hope you can help me guys i made a silly mistake,
ok i put a new motherboard in my pc,
after i powered up the system asked me for a boot up disk,
now heres the mistake
i put in my windows vista disk,
i now know i should have gone into the bios and got it to boot from hard disk,
anyway i have now installed a fresh version of vista all my other files on that disk drive are now in a file called windows.old
some of the programs i can run if there in user but i cant get any of the programs to work that are in program files or program files x86
i can copy them from windows.old and put them into the new vista but they still dont open sayes i got dlls missing please help!

There isnt much you can really do because some programs need key registry entries or .dll files to run that are only placed during install. You can try reinstalling the applications and see if your old settings are still there but i doubt they will be.

I don't understand how you can accidentally reinstall Vista.

that sucks man. reminds me when i used to run win2k back in the day and i formatted the wrong drive because i booted with a floppy to get into dos to format my drive before windows re-install. i forgot dos doesnt read NTFS partition nor does it even recognize them and i ended up formatting my music drive instead. it was a sad day.

the only thing you can do is sabe files u need to save and rewipe the entire hdd and start fresh .. use the reinstall bit if you need to save important files .

thankyou for those with helpful answers, i did do a full wipe then reinstalled everything. there was a link on the ms website of how to reinstall windows.old verisons but i had a bad day today so i quit while i was ahead

Oh same here. I bricked my phone trying to put a new skin on it :/ Gonna cost me over 200 bucks to get it replaced. *sigh*
