So I want to upgrade to 4 gigs of ram but i only have windows XP 32 bit. So im wondering if I do get 64 bit XP if its gonna be worth it. I want to know if there is any difference in compatibility issues and stuff like that.

You're better off with Vista x64.

Big difference. XP 64 is a niche OS without an upgrade path, and few users got it. You'll run into issues finding good drivers for some things... as Werty said you would either be better stickign with XP 32bit or going with Vista 64bit. I wouldn't recommend anything else.

just remember that xp 32 will only see up to 3 gigs of memory . in some cases you might be able to squeeze out 3.2 gigs .

Yeah XP 64 is just pathetic.I've installed once & will never do that mistake again.Horrible driver support, less to no antivirus support. If you want to see all 4GB then use Vista X64,either stay with XP 32.

My two cents worth: Vista 64 is not as bad as what the media might portray. Yes, I have had one serious issue with it but if I had exercised due diligence and backed up my files, the problem could have been avoided.
If I were doing a new build tomorrow I would still use Vista 64.

vista 64 for the win.
I had issues at first, but after sp1, it's as smooth as butter.
And 4 gigs goodness.

Here's my 0.02
XP 64 is NOT worth it, unless you're a business. Other than that, it's garbage.
I couldn't get my D-Link WiFi card to install, and my games didn't work. Drivers and Software is a pain in the rear, and there is a TON of incompatible software for x64 OS.
x84 (or x86 i forget) For life!
