Howdy everyone. Was browsing in SLIZone forum regarding people having difficulty setting up geforce boost (8200 +8500) on the xfx 8200 mobo and read....
"I've been in contact with XFX for over a month now and latest reply states that Hybrid SLI is working only with Phenom CPU for now; new BIOS with support for other CPUs should be available in the future (I'm waiting for a reply about this though...) "
Is this right? I just dropped $55 bucks on the egg for a 8500GT dgpu in anticipation to get geforce boost working on my xfx 8200 mobo.
Any insight from you guys would be appreciated. Anyone get this to work w/ xfx 8200 mobo? XFX tech comments pleeaassse!
Thx,

I have not heard that you have to have a Phenom CPU. I do know that you have to have MS Vista though.
On edit: did you by chance start a support ticket? Sometimes threads get missed due to the sheer number posters.

Hi ive been looking at this mobo bundle for my son as im going to build him a pc.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=226448
So i have been reading up all over the net about hybrid sli etc and i see in your system specs that you are using xp service pack 3 well from what ive read hybrid sli performance boost technology requires you to be on vista for it to work.
this is what i read over on another forum.

I am sorry. If a thread gets buried than I don't see it until someone posts in it again. You will need Vista and a Phenom for GeForce Boost to work but the 8500GT does pretty well on its own.

HybridPower will work on a Phenom or Athlon CPU but it is only for the large cards. GeForce Boost relies on the faster HyperTransport speed of the Phenom CPUs so you must have a Phenom for GeForce Boost. The feature will not even show up if you have an Athlon CPU. That isn't going to change from a BIOS update. Yes, HybridSLI is Vista only.
I would make sure that Maplin knows that. Aren't they a pretty big eTailer in the UK? I know I have heard of them before. The system will still be good for light gaming and any day to day stuff but you won't be able to do GeForce Boost on that system because of the CPU. They could change it to a Phenom X3 and it would work fine and wouldn't add much cost to the system.
