Yep, I am so happy! I am getting this camera for Christmas!

Canon Vixia HV30
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=177&modelid=16206

I did a lot of research and it seems like this is the best consumer camcorder out there. Got a good deal on it. $429 after tax and shipping! WOW! It's retail price is $899 on Canon.

It's Full HD 1920x1050 resolution, with 24P, 30P and 60i settings.

Manual Focus, Aperture, Exposure, Shutter Speed.

Also got these items to go with the camera:

Extra High Capacity LiON Battery BP-2L24/22 f/ Canon

Crystal Optics High Resolution 3 Piece 43mm Filter Kit (UV PL FD)

Crystal Optics .45 Wide Angle Lens 43mm - Increase Your Field Of View!!

Crystal Optics 2x Telephoto Lens 43mm - Double Your Zoom!!

5-Pack 60min Mini DV Tapes

Deluxe Full Size 2-Way Fluid Panhead Tripod

Deluxe Photo Carrying Case

Table Top Tripod with Extension Legs and Tilt

Deluxe 3 Piece Photo/Video Care Kit

Universal Screen Protectors

All this came out to be around $580 after tax and shipping! :D

Maybe later if needed, and when I will have a bit more money I'll buy a DIY 35mm adapter with a 50mm Nicon lens, which will allow me to get very narrow Depth of Fields. But that is too expensive for me right now, since those kits can go up to about $1000.

Here are some videos to take a look at on how well the camera works:

Make sure to enable High Quality Mode.

This is if I would get the 35mm adapter:

So what do you guys think? I think I had a good deal on this camera! :icon_tiphat:

Very nice camcorder. I picked myself up a Panasonic PV-GS80 mini DV on liquidation at my local Zellers store a few weeks ago for $89.97. Haven't had a chance to pick up any mini DV tapes for it yet though.

Well in Europe you do not get the presents from Santa, but instead from Jesus. It might sound weird but that's how tradition goes in Europe, and usually kids write letters to Jesus to ask him to get them the things they write down.

Now, I know about this because there was a very nice deal on one of the websites for this camera, and figured that it might not be such a good price in a week or so, so we bought it yesterday. You know you don't want to miss a sale that is over %50 off on something so expensive. :)

So, I got my camcorder yesterday, and filmed some footage in about 30-45minutes right after I took it out of the box. Check out the footage here in High-Definition:

Yep, I know, but you could say that my parents are old school and they don't know how to order things online. Well my dad knows but he is lazy, so he gives me everything that is related with online ordering. At stores it is expensive around $700, and on the net it was a lot cheaper, so they made me buy it. lol.
