I had Snickers put down today. He was between 12-14 years old. He has been throwing up almost everyday for the last year. Vet says he fine but he is always in a kennel there. Tried many different foods. He also of late has whined when he jumps down off of things and you pick him up. Sounds like he is in pain.
I am very sad I made this decision but I think it was best, he just did not act right the last couple of months. Would lay in the same place for almost 3-6 hours. You would have to walk over him. Not good.
Oh well thought I would you let you all know my downer thing.

Sorry to hear that Scott. I know it hurts. It sounds like you did the right thing, though.

That's really sad. I don't know what I would do without my cats.
At least he's in a better place now ;)

We still have Skittles. She is my wifes cat and is a little over 3 years old. Her and our 6 month Yorkie love each other and play all the time.

I feel for you, Scott. I've been there and frankly, it sucks. :(
Unfortunately, the right thing to do is often not the easiest thing to do. It sounds like he was suffering, so take solace in knowing you did the best thing for him.

Sorry to hear that. We had to put our 16yr old cat down this past summer too. She was a tough old cat and would often chase the neighbors cats and dogs off our property. She just seemed to run out of steam quiet suddenly, her back legs would give out, and she would fall over. Putting her down was the humane thing to do.

Very sorry to hear that you had to do what you thought was best for your pet. Try to feel a little better that though you miss him it sounds like you put your thoughts of your furry friend ahead of your own needs.
Don't know your relationship to Snickers but I do know from my own experience that some few animals do kinda manage to push past the straight pet line and move into 'friend' territory. So I hope remembering the good times with him helps.

Cats are incredibly tough little critters despite being so small and fuzzy. They will endure a lot of pain without so much as a whine and without letting you know. I know one of my cat was seriously sick for days and I never knew till I saw blood in her hiding spot (she's much better now). She also had something in an eye for hours and I didn't know till I went to pet her. Maybe it has to do with how in the wild sick animals are prime targets so they won't show it.
Anyway what I want to say is that your cat was probably suffering more than you know and consequently you probably did the right thing. It's a very tough decision to make when your pet doesn't look that ill, just remember that Snickers was probably having an even worse time than it looked like, so you did the humane thing.
(sorry, long-winded, coffee not ready yet )
