I've never really been an ATI enthusiast, but they look nice and they probably stay cool lol. I thought XFX was making only Nvidia chipsets?

XFX is going ATI and Nvidia. Its the best of both worlds. They posted this news a few months ago here on Bjorn, and other web sites.

I am gonna take a stab at this and say that they'll perform the same if not similar (clock for clock) to any other card with same name prefix.

Well, I could've either gave a nice answer or an @$$ of a hole answer; I chose the latter considering the question which btw made me think "WHA?!?!" so bleh!

(spoken in a redneck accent) Its like my maw always says: there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Now they just need to do something about that price, it's about $50 to high for todays market.

:icon_tiphat:............Did XFX decide to make ATI cards because of the performance of the 4870x2....did they see something forthcomming from ATI's engineers....did or does XFX own shares of AMD, if so how much? Is XFX's parent company Pine Holding Company?

I like the dual slot cooling on the 4830 and 4850 cards. The coolers for a lot of the 4830s and 4850s are large but don't channel the hot air out of the case. I'd be interested to see how the temps and overclocking on these stack up to some of the other manufacturers.

I really like the look of the 4830 and 4850. A lot of companies are using larger coolers on these cards but I like that XFX decided to go with a dual slot cooler that channels the hot air out of the case. I'd like to see how overclocking and temps on these card stack up to some of the other big companies.

I haven't ask those questions. I would assume that they want to cover all market segments at all price points so that they can be more economically viable and keep bringing us those sweet GPU's for a long time to come.

Both ATI and Nvidia make a good product, other companies like Palit and MSI and some others vend both ATI and Nvidia and do a pretty good job of it. It's the smart thing to do in an economic downturn, widen your product base to appeal to a larger group of people.

Yes we have an XFX 4870 coming it should be here any time now. As soon as it comes through the door I'll start on it and get a review up for you.

Once again, thanks for allowing me to spend over $2000 in video cards and motherboards for my fiance...only to have them either DOA or be broken pieces of CRUD and have AWFUL customer care "Daniel" who refuses to give his last name after he gets sarcastic with my fiance on the phone when we are trying to set up our THIRD RMA.. stating he is the ONLY Daniel at tech support... which I'm sure is a lie. The last person we spoke to told us to just go to EVGA, and also said that the 9800 GX2s were perfect, but the guy before ADMITTED that they were having repeated problems from countless customers. Everyone feels we are invaluable as customers and that it is a HASSLE to speak with us about the issues we are having with your terrible products. He is now in the process of getting this most recently faulty video card replaced, purely to fund buying a BFG or another companys products.. because we seem to be so worthless to your company, it was even easier at one point for him to just throw one of the DOAs in the trash and go buy an EVGA card (we now have two of those in one of our PCs) We have to keep Paying YOU to ship back your HORRIBLE products, only to have you send us another faulty product?? How does that make any sense? And then when we call up to tell your company that we have had 3 cards and a motherboard fail on us, and he tells us , and I QUOTE, "OH, thats fantastic :) " in his smarmy little sarcastic voice.. YOUR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES ENJOY RIDICULING THEIR CUSTOMERS??? UN-freaking-believable. Then they say for us to just go online to set up the RMAs because they can't be bothered to do it over the phone, and we sent a complaint TWELVE days ago, and they never even answered us back, and the rep we called said "It may have been overlooked." HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TRUST SENDING BACK ANOTHER-- ANOTHER!-- $600 product, to your company, when you LOSE a simnply email??? Oh, and sent back at OUR cost. YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING. I MEAN WE NEED AN ABSOLUTE F*CKING MIRACLE FROM YOU TO RESTORE OUR TRUST IN THIS COMPANY. I am ALMOST POSITIVE THAT NOTHING REDEEMING WILL COME OF THIS... but one can only hope... show us you care. though I am sure it will just be an email saying you are sorry and lets set up an RMA... honestly. I think he will just throw it in the trash because he is on the phone with your care reps right now and they are just ridiculing us. GOOD LUCK. my address is 201 Selena Drive, Fulton, MS 38843. You better send more than a f*cking email. I'm serious. Im posting this email in numerous forums, as will I post your response so choose your words carefully.

It still won't. Call and talk to them and they can most likely get the problem fixed or if it is multiple hardware failure companies will take care of you for it.

Just don't get mean and explain what has happened. On the other note, if you have had multiple problems than you really need to check out your other hardware. No company can make money if they have failure after failure. Something else could be causing it.

If you really have had that much hardware fair there is another issue.

That's because no ATI partner has as good a warranty as XFX does at least for those of us in North America

I heard a rumor that ATI is going To show a FireGL card for the new G5 that is going to be presented at the WWC next month. Has anyone heard this and/or have any confirmation :?:
