Hi, I recently got one of those new internet tablets with android ( Archos 7 Home Internet tablet). My problem is I can't seem to find a app to watch shared .avi movies on my network. Does anyone know of a good app for this?

Rockplayer (http://www.anplayer.com/index_en.html) is awesome app for Android. Plays the AVIs I create for my Patriot media player. I use it on my EVO 4G, an awesome phone by the way.

Thx, took a look at the app and it seemed pretty nice but I was unable to get it to install on my tablet, even tried several other versions of it with no luck. Then i tried the Know cpu for rockplayer app from goodle market and it turns out my tablet has ARMv5 cpu and rockplayer not supported :(.

That bites, Rockplayer plays my AVIs that are original video size with Dolby AC3 5.1 audio wonderfully.

You could try Sothink Free Video Converter (http://www.sothinkmedia.com/video-converter/), it supports to convert .avi to avi for different properties. But, what I want to recommend you here is Sothink YouTube Downloader (http://www.sothinkmedia.com/web-video-downloader/), you could download online videos in any desired formats with it. Have a try!

Core Player is not supported on the Android platform.

Though Android is developed by the Open Handset Alliance, this smartphone platform only supports H.263, H.264 AVC, MPEG-4 SP and VP8 video format. Hence it is impossible to play AVI on Android phones.

The following will introduce a powerful AVI to Android Converter as well as describe a step by step guide on how to convert AVI to Android supported video format at How to Play AVI on Android Nexus One/Samsung Galaxy/Motorola Droid/HTC? (http://www.bigasoft.com/articles/how-to-play-avi-on-android.html) .

Then it is just easy to stream AVI to Android Phone for playing AVI on Android Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Motorola Droid and G1 and more.

Good information. Ive tried apps that have always claimed to be able to play avi and other codecs but converting it to the right format is always easiest.

I just use UpnP play or something like that to locate the files, and then play with VLC beta.

I don't watch many movies on the phone, but I tried a 2.5GB file, and it worked just fine.

If your network set to share files, why dont you just browse the movie file and play it on your device default movie player. It can be easier
