View Full Version : spread Firefox button
Now that Firefox 1.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) is available you should add a Spread Firefox (http://www.spreadfirefox.com) button to your site.
I used the Mozilla Suite (http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/) for a long time and loved it but Firefox 1.0 is a lot better. 8)

There is also a button to click for Firefox to change IE. Buggy though.

I've never tried Firefox.... can anyone describe the advantages/disadvantages of using Firefox over IE/other broswers?
In other words, why should I use Firefox over any other browser?

Internet users starting to drift away from IE mainly because of security issues.Bugs that are built in the windows OS.
Even though Microsoft came out with patches and service packs to fix this users complain that windows hasn't really been updated since 2001.
Firefox to my opinion has a superior user interface and is faster for downloads.
Plus the pop-up blocker is the best out there.
It offers tabbed browsing, which means that users can jump back and forth between different sites with only one window open, and live bookmarks, which show users the most recent headlines on their favorite sites and lets them go directly to those articles.
But now i'm not dissing IE i mean both have their problems and security issues its just that I look at a company like Microsoft that makes inimaginable money and a little open source Foundation.
I mean the little fondation seams to care about their Firefox while microsoft are sleeping on billions of dollards and can't fix minor security issues...something's wrong here...
Well little Mozilla is backed up by Time Warner IBM and Sun Microsystems.
( A little attack from IBM since IBM had been backstabbed back in the days by microsoft on OS2 project i beleive correct me if i'm wrong)
Anyways Windows is a rip off of the old MACINTOSH interface.
(Well the whole user friendly wise interface where you didn't have to go through strings of commands to open a folder and to execute a program)
But enough of this i wont get into details but if you want me to post more on the whole Microsoft history let me know.
People have to support open source so companies like Microsoft don't take the monopole.
(Is that an english word i know what it means in french...)

but you gotta know that now firefox is popular too and hackers are developing exploits for firefox as well as internet explorer so yes firefox is still safer then internet explorer but like every program its not perfect and some web site are infected by exploit for both version firefox and internet explorer....
i use both internet explorer is the one i use for random browsing (googling) and for sites that there can be a risk ill use firefox..:)

Well imamake a little controversy fromthe post I made earlier.
Firefox when it came out had no exploits but as it goes I seen that on a random website where the exploits for firefox are as much or even worst then IE.
BUT I have no proofs of that so ill stop here.

Many thanks go out to Schwarz and isopro for their input. I might take Firefox for a spin.... love the tabbed browsing idea ;) and the more secure the better. IE has security holes everwhere, many more I'm sure than Firefox, at least for now... Can anyone post a link where I can download it, or can I just Google it?
