Here are the rules for this month contest. Please read them carefully because I have some bonus entries for you if can make them.

1. Must be an active Folding@Home member on team 41608 the Bjorn3D team during the month of May.

2. Must post at least 5 post in the Bjorn3D forums under your Folding@Home name. If Folding for my daughter Stephanie the first part of your name should be your Folding name if you can. This is so I can find you to tell you if you won.

3. Must have a USA Shipping Address.

Now here is the fun part. All people that meet the rules get 1 entry in the bowl for the drawing. For every extra 5 post in the forums during the month you get another entry. And to really get you to work hard Folding, if you are in the top 20 24 hour Folding Point Chart you get an extra 5 entries. So I am offering many ways to get extra entries.

Wow Scott, this is an awesome change to the standard folding competition. This is a great way to raise interest and get people moving. No longer do you have to have a ton of money and the top hardware to win the top hardware. Great idea!

Are there any useful folding cards other than nvidia? It would be great to have the ATI/AMD cards participate via the OpenCL folding client. Makes me wonder what the problem is developing the folding client for the cards.

Converting the system here over to water cooling, and may be out of the mix for a day or two. It should be fun!

AMD cards works better in some BOINC projects aimed for AMD/ATI cards ;unlike folding@home where NVIDIA got a high PPD.

Nope, you have time till end of month to meet the min reqirements. I think the min post requirement has to me more than a simple yes/no or one senctence post.

GT 240 cards require no external power and are available in low profile varieties for short HTPC cases. They produce about 5500ppd and are relatively inexpensive.

Right now I'm needing to upgrade my board and CPU. this AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ isn't cutting it. Also wish i got my 8800gt back from evga. Wanted to use that for a physx dedicated card.

I have a nVidia 8600GTS 256MB will this work for you. I do not think it will do more than 2,400ppd though.

Did you ever get that to Fold? I've never heard of someone being successful with the 8600GTS.

Yes it does fold. Good for 1,400 - 2,400ppd. Not worth the power for me though.

I tried my 8600gt last year, for one day. it got about the same. and then started to throw exceptions, detect nan's, and EUE over and over. didn't make it 24 hrs. it still plays games tho'...

Yes I can attest to that. You have to run the fan all out on them as soon as the card gets slightly warm. It poops itself. I think that is the technical term. :)

Guess they don't have that card anymore. They sent a 250 GTS which is a tad better but don;t think I can use it as a dedicated physx card. Also, don't have the mobo for two cards atm.

some of those are a rebranded 9800 gtx. the specs for both cards are the same. the difference i guess is whether they use the g92a or the g92b cause the pics i've seen they look the same. kinda like when they turned the 8800gs into the 9600gso.

What card do you have. With the new Beta 275.xx I got a 5% ppd boost.

those boosts seem to be the fermi cards and gpu3 related. some people are reporting 10% or better depending on card and WU

I have 105 posts for the month witch equals 21 bonus entrys and I'm trying to get in the top 20 so in total 21 so far
Josh has 60 posts for the month witch equals 12 bonus entrys plus 5 for being in the top 20 totaling 17 so far

if you had bothered to read my post in this thread it says I'm opting OUT of this contest. with the gear i won last year, and my un-founded, rabid dislike of all things ATI. I chose not to participate. the field is narrow this month. those in the contest each have high odds of winning. and scott was lokking for resonably produtive posts, so i don't think the one that says Spam 9673 (rough guess) times is going to count. ;)
