the website said they had it in stock in Ft.lauderdale. called and confirmed. so over we go. get there and they tell me it's $130 more than the site says. why because they have the am2 vers with the mempipe. http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3858963&Tab=11&NoMapp= so for a board that needs a bios update and has a part I can get for $8 they want to charge me and extra $130. then they try to talk me into a crossfire board that takes ddr3 instead of ddr2 for $229. what part of phenom, ddr2, sli don't they understand?
oh yeah insult to injury they told me on the phone still in the box but when I get there the box has been opened and the aux fan is missing. still want $269 tho'
I think I'll get the foxconn i want and force it into my case.[/RANT!]

There is a reason why I walked into a CompUSA one time and never went back. That sucks man.

and prolly the same reason they aren't in cali anymore

they aren't in cali because tiger direct bought them, and closed most of the stores. they added a few to the 2 tiger direct outlets in miami-dade county, and kept the name for the new stores. they are all over south fl, but rare elsewhere.

Would have been speaking to the manager and always have proof in hand when doing this.

I did. they list the 2 boards a diffent items. which they are because of the mempipe. but that doesn't warrent a $130 difference. and they wouldnt budge on price. what really pissed me off is that their invewntory system said they had one of the $139 boards and so did they when i called. that's a 30-45 min drive with traffic and lights. that's why i called first. think I found a refurb on ebay but it's feels a little pricy at $120 with the warrenty cut to 30 days from 3 years. save $10, lose 35 months....
just looked it up to see if it still showed one here and they still show it in stock as of 5/28/2011 12:00 PM ET obviously they have a system that looks at store invtory so why does the store say it's out????
just spoke to the MANAGER. it seems that the one that shows to the corporate/web polling software is the floor display model. when it was put in it's case last year it was inventoried by the then management. it should not have been since it was mounted by construction workers who used drywall screws to mount it and ignored the supplied atx mounting holes. the board was fubar'd and cannot be used. this manager is taking it and all the other equipment that was similarly treated out of the inv system in june when they do thier next full inv check. I almost choked laughing when he was explaining this to me. just his tone of voice told me what he thought of the previous mangement and the guys who mount this stuff.

We had similar problems when i worked at best buy. When you do inventory, you're supposed to mark the floor model as a floor model in the inventory system and it takes it out of the count as available. wasn't always done, and thus the count was always off.

that's one way to mount a display

Can still chop em in court as a bait and switch honestly. Only way to do this is by making it painfully obvious that internet figures are different than in store like Frys. Since they told you they had one AND it was the same price then bingo court time.

no lawyer is gonna take that case. to many they can make real money on. and they (the store) said they had an m3n_ht deluxe. never said it was the one that I saw online, cause the guy i asked and gave the item # to gave me to the asst manager, who i gave the model (m3n etc) to so he went and looked on the shelf. they list the 2 diffent models by different item #'s. either way i ordered a refurb from ebay after calling the 800 # for compusa and finding out they have discontinued the one without the mempipe. no more will be ordered. that little pice of copper aint worth $130 dollars when i can get one on ebay for $10-$25
dont really think I need it anyway with the heat spreaders on my patriot kit.

$130 dollar difference? Dang... scammers! Glad I buy all my stuff from newegg, which I've done ever since a friend told me about it over 6 years ago. I find everything I need there, so no reason for me to go to a B&M store anymore. Saves time and money ^^
