So I traded my backup card, a GT 240, for a XFX GTS250 and though I would toss it in my system for a few extra ppd. Last night, both the 250 and the 460 were running fine until I checked this morning. The clock on the 250 is basically half (738 -> 300mhz checked via evga precision and gpu-z). Ppd dropped from 6k to ~1.4k. Not really worth it, but I can't override the half clocked settings.
At first I was thinking it was a power issue, but it could be heat related. The 250 has its own 6pin connect straight from the psu, a XFX 650w, which is a re-badged seasonic and is "SLI-ready". Normally the 460 runs around 50-60C and now its about 67C. The 250 was running around 74C. At about half it is running 57C. It was cool this morning, so not really sure what is going on.
For now the 250 is going to be removed. 1.4k is not worth it. Anyone have any ideas?

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers using the latest ones, 275.33 on the nivida site ( or do custom >clean install) I had a prob with a 295 recently doing the same thing. a reinstall fixed it. who traded down for the 240?

I dont like those 275 drivers at all. I was having the same problem with my 460Gt downclocking and not clocking back up to applicatons or folding, despite the control panel settings. I went back to the 266 drivers and no problems since.

Will play around with drivers later today. With the 250 installed alone it worked perfectly fine. As for the trade, was a local friend that needed a replacement card for another system and didn't have time to wait for shipping. They extra price for shipping he figured justified the downgrade.

Reinstalled the 275.33 drivers and so far it appears to be working. If it stops again I may try the 266 drivers. Thanks for the input.

running different cards off the same drivers gets funny results sometimes.
