The OCZ Vertex 3 uses the new SandForce SF-2000 controller, and is now the fastest SSD on the market. Keep reading to find out exactly fast this drive can perform.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?d=yIl2AUoC8zA (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?a=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:yIl2AUoC8zA) http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?i=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:V_sGLiPBpWU (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?a=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:V_sGLiPBpWU) http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?d=qj6IDK7rITs (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?a=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:qj6IDK7rITs) http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?i=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:gIN9vFwOqvQ (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Reviews_at_Bjorn3D?a=RvC2H9-g2BQ:uZi7pXFQZR0:gIN9vFwOqvQ)

I passed on a few Newegg promo deals on a 120GB Vertex 2, one as low as $160 or so. There's lots of negative feedback about people having various problems with them. Many are claiming TRIM doesn't function as it should, and without that, you just can''t get good performance.
At first I thought is was just that people weren't logging off Windows. It is said in some Newegg customer reviews that logging off manually is necessary for TRIM to work. Some are mistaking Sleep mode or Standby as the idle time necessary for TRIM to function, but the drive has to be in an active state for TRIM to take place.
However after going back to the forums where I was hearing of Vertex 2 problems, people were still complaining of TRIM not working even after logging off Windows. Is it just me, or should MS consider an SSD hotfix to allow users to set Windows to automatically log off after so much idle time?
Just this one simple concept of auto log off can become quite a nightmare, Google it and you'll see. Personally I'd rather not have to remember to manually log off Windows for X amount of time each day for this one oversight. I'll get an SSD eventually, at least a 120GB model probably, but I'm still a bit gun shy.

I have a Vertex 1 and 4 Vertex 2 only had one problem and they replaced the drive no problem. Have not Tried the Vertex 3 yet. But I have tried the New Crucial M4 or F4 wow its fast.

Using an older Patriot Torqx here, and performance is excellent. Compile/link times are half and less than spinning disks. TRIM working well so far. Owned this for about 2 years now.

Love the performance, hate the price. I've been pushing off buying an SSD for a while, and think maybe another year. By that time, I hope to be building a new computer and hope most of the bugs people keep mentioned are worked out. The Vertex 3 sure looks impressive.

So are you Vertex users experiencing no TRIM issues then, and do you have to manually log off Windows to allow for proper idle time each day for it to function?
I have a chance to get a 120GB Vertex 2 for $145, but I may wait for a price drop on the 120GB Vertex 3, which is currently at $238.

most people that experience problems with TRIM do not realize that their SSDs must be set up in AHCI configuration and must be running Windows 7. If you are using RAID and you have your drives set up as RAID for the hard drives, you won't be getting TRIM support even in Windows 7.
