Riddle me this Biostar! (OC-Ethernet prob)

Ok so as everyone probably knows I ate it hard by drilling through the rad on my i5 water loop. So I have to resort to smaller AMD dual core rigs until I can afford to replace it. I tried using my server but this latest FREE MMO lags it.....wtf. Yea that's what I said. Anyways, so I stuck my guest PC parts in my main case because the board supports SLI. Dual 465s and an OCed 5200+ I says, should be good enough?:flag_bs: HA! I was wrong.

Any time I turn on the OC portion in the bios the ethernet port on the board gets blocked from Windows. I know the ***** is on because I can see the blinky lights on the back of my case. Turn the OC portion off and it pops right up. Can anyone explain that?

Parts in question are a Biostar TPower N750 motherboard with an X2 5200+ running all my usual stuff an Win 7 X64. I had this problem before but totally forgot about it since I have never actually used the board in my main rig before.

I just updated the bios and still have the same problem. It doesn't even show up in the device manager when I turn the OC portion on. I should mention, I'm not even OCed yet. Luckily I keep a wifi card around to post to you fine people to see if anyone knows what's up. :razz:

do you need to turn on the oc portion on? can't you just oc it with out that?

How am I going to OC without being able to OC?

I have been told that the reason you lose your LAN when you overclock is due to low watage of the mother board. Overclocked it tends to pull power (spikes) and just shuts off the LAN. I also have been told that the mother board is completely intergrated so when you overclock it it messes with the boards protocol and tends to shut down the LAN.

I would agree, except I'm not even OCing. All I'm doing is changing one setting in the bios to make the OC options ungrayed with everything still on auto and it blocks the LAN. I'd say disabled, but it is still blinking both lights in the back.

if the lights are on then it is enabled in bios, so windowis borked...again... why does this not supprise me?

You can get lights and have it be bad. I know this first hand, We had a freak power surge through our phone line then it went through our routers and switches to the computers/ Xcracks. Well needless to say an Xcrack did not make it. My Main computer lost the on board Ethernet but I still had "Lights or activity" going on. and after that Windows does not recognize that Ethernet port even being there.

The point though, is that is isn't bad nor is it Windows. When I disable OCing options in the bios I can use the ethernet port, get online with it, copy data from my server ect. When I turn on OC options (not even OCing) it automatically disappears yet the lights still blink in the back.
