those are cool, it's too bad you didn't make the trip before Irwin died.

Yes some were taken at the Australia Zoo which is an hour or so from Brisbane.

Those are some awesome pic's and I can't believe you won that trip. Hope you had a great time down under The 3 flights were a killer but it was almost worth it for the spectacular scenery and nature.
- 5.5 hr flight from Montreal to Vancouver
- 15 hr flight from Vancouver to Sydney
- 1.5 hr from Sydney to Brisbane
Plus another 9 hrs in between flights. If I were to ever go again I would fly business class so at least I would have room to stretch out and sleep.

The time zones really mess you up. We left here on Friday the 8th at 6:00PM and arrived there on Sunday morning Brisbane time. On the way back we left at 6:30 AM Brisbane time and arrived home at 7:00 PM Montreal time the same day.

Wouldn't make more sense to land in Cali for refuel then fly straight to Brisbane?

That was up to the contest sponsor. Plus I didn't have to be groped by the TSA pervs.

But think of the added excitement if you had been...

Was that Kookaburra sitting in an old gum tree?

Speaking of trees, I just looked at the pics again. that tree looks like a banyan, a member of the ficus family. if you ever want to see more of those just come to florida, they're all over the place here. not like a forest of them, but we do have alot of them.

Great pics Slugbug! The mountain view looks magnificent! I'd like to visit Australia myself one day..
That's some serious flying time you got there btw. I myself am going to the Dominican Republic in september and that should be by far the longes flight I've ever taken (just over 10h I think..)
