Is this OS still as lame as it was before? Software, drivers, and overall usage wise? I remember trying it when I first got 4GB of RAM and it was complete fail.

I don't think it really got any better.

I'm running it right now.I have had no porblems as of yet finding drivers, and all my apps have installed. the only thing I have a problem getting to work a re a few expansions for games, and most of those can be installed as a mod. it has something to do with the installer not seeing X 64 as a "valid" version of windows. they way they wrote the compatibility list in the installer as I understand it. X64 just got leftout. and I just got a security from microsoft update today so it's still being supported.

Interesting. I swear over a year ago I seen a news post saying Microsoft was going to stop supporting anything earlier than Vista. I upgraded to Vista because a lot of the newer applications wouldn't run right with XP and were limited. I know there are workarounds but I got sick of messing with it.

They did stop support, but sometimes updates still come for it because it is still a heavily used OS.

Support has stopped for people who won't update to SP3 for xp, SP2 for xp64. EOL isn't till 2012 or 2014. I think it's 2014 but I'd have to look it up to be sure.
It pays to read the entire article Saryn....:p
