Anybody find this a bit funny, or am I the only one who laughed at the fact that they said that other laptops are mainly for just documents and office work while this one is the first gaming portable laptop:

http://www.razerzone.com/blade#

I guess the only thing i see about this laptop that is nice for gamers is that touchpad monitor and the hot keys above that, but other than that, it's nothing special. Performance wise, you can probably get better gaming portable laptops, plus it's so expensive too.

Ok, I might also give extra kudos to the fact that the laptop seems to be quite nice and slim, but to be honest, I got one of the recent Macbook Pro's, paid about $500 less than what Razer is asking for (Macbook Pro = $2300) (Razer Blade = $2799), I can have Mac OSX and Windows 7 as bootcamp and play any Windows games I want, and my laptop has a 1680x1050 res, Core i7-2720QM Sandy Bridge Processor 3.3GHz with Turbo, and an AMD 6750M graphics. From what it seems like even an overpriced Macbook Pro is way cheaper than this RAZER laptop compared to performance. Then again you can get a standard PC gaming laptop from ASUS for half the price with same or close to the same performance.

So here is how I see it:

RAZER Blade - $2799 - 2640M Procesessor, GeForce 555M GPU, 8GB Memory
Macbook Pro (Early 2011 Model) - $2300 (with $300 student discount) - 2720QM Processor, AMD 6750M GPU, 8GB Memory
Standard PC Laptop - $1199 -Same specs as the other laptops, or slightly higher

What you get from each:

Razer - Fancy keyboard and touchpad with extra hotkeys, slim design.
Macbook Pro - Mac OSX or Windows 7, slim design.
Standard PC Laptop - Cheaper Price, Thicker casing, But better hardware. (Probably best performer)

I don't think it's worth it at all, what do you guys think?

Eh I will stick with my Desktop PC any day.

Only reason i would want a laptop is to browse the net, word processing and maybe videos while I am away from home. I think laptops would be awkward for gaming too.

IMHO, gaming laptop = waste of money.

Gaming laptops are nice if you're always on the go or have limited space, like in a barracks or dorm. I'd like to have one so that i could work where ever I am and then game if I finish or get to bored working...
but yeah that sems like a high price, and an exaggerated claim.

This is an overpriced over hyped piece of rubbish. I was hoping for something actually revolutionary only to get disappointed BAD.

Their main deal with this crap is how slim and light it is compared to other gaming laptops. That is IT. You can get a better equipped Alienware for 1000 CHEAPER.

I must say though, I'm pretty sure the 555m is better than a 6750 performance wise...and the res is higher on the screen. Besides that, I think even I would buy the Macbook over this junk.

Game while pooping? That's a first.... :O Wow! lol hahaha... Yeah, same thought on this PP, I think a macbook pro is more worth it over that laptop, not to mention if gaming is the main reason then I doubt somebody would be really worried about a slightly thicker laptop that might have a 580M GPU or somewhere around there for much cheaper than that RAZER Blade laptop.

Well I have to admit, if they ditched the keyboard and pad then this laptop would probably be about 1500 cheaper. Just saying. With that in mind, I think that is the only thing this laptop has going for it. Keyboard and trackpad/touchscreen lol.

I rather have a lighter laptop. 17" laptop is pretty freaking heavy, if your carrying it around

The funny thing is that the naming for the processor is confusing because it is called the i7-2640M but it's just a dual core. I think most of the latest games can actually support more than two cores, and especially if they were thinking ahead of the game, then they would have put a quad-core cpu in there. Heck for the price they should have added something like the i7-2820QM. For graphics, they should have added a 580m then it would be a better price vs. performance ratio.

def not for me way to much money for what it is.The hardware included just does not justify the price.yeah the keyboard is interesting maybe Razer will do something similar for desktop gaming keyboard ..Actually what more interst to me right know is the actual percentage of people gaming while pooping ?pretty sure tablet users outnumber the notebook users for P&P [poop 'n play]
