Are they going to make a gene for X79?

I have not heard on this, but I know we can check :)

I have not heard on this, but I know we can check :)Sounds good. If they do, I really hope it's dual PCI-E 3 as if both are reduced to 8x in SLI then it would be 16x 2.0.

then again you know the performance difference between 8x and 16x I hope :) very small.

then again you know the performance difference between 8x and 16x I hope :) very small.Last time I checked 590s saturate the 8x 2.0 bus, correct? Since everyone is gungho about 3.0 it would make the difference. 8x 3.0 is 16x 2.0 so dual 8x 3.0 slots would be perfect for any kind of setup.

While this is true that it can saturate a 8x bus it will only see a slight performance difference...
plus implimentation of the PCI-e Gen 3 lanes I am almost certain will require detection of a Gen 3 card otherwise it will likely drop to gen 2 spec which with only half of the slot pins active will still be 8GB/s Aggregate bandwidth

I just realized we are discussing a null point as the chip offers 40 lanes so if making a gene board then it will be 2 slots which will be x16 native on both anyways....
sheesh lol I wish I woulda noticed that earlier... for some reason I was thinking 1155/1156

Any comparisons with G1 Assassin? That would be my other choice.
