View Full Version : Looking for a case
Hi im looking for a case to hold my new £900 ($1700) system, i can spend up to £100 ($190) including a psu. Would like a stylish looking case , possibly with lcd screen which can provide decenet cooling and possibility of minor modding in the future.
Thanks LJ

What do you consider "stylish?" Do you like clean and simple or do you like the weird vampire/dragon/robot/weird designs?
clean and simple really, i would prefer a door to keep everything clean, but im open to any suggestions.
Thanks

I really like the Antec P-160 case. I have purchased 2 of them. I run my nForce4 SLI system in it.

I like Kingwin's KT-424 (? think that's right), and Lian Li makes plenty of good looking cases.
$190 for PSU and case.... what is the rest of your system? i want to get an idea of how beefy of a PSU you'll need and then we can see how much of that $190 will be PSU cost.

man that's hard to say...
I fricking love my Silverstone TJ06 with wind tunnel!!! Its an awesome, stylish case!
thanks for the ideas, ill check them out, as for the system im thinking 2 6600gts in SLI so a preety beefy psu. Ask if u want any more details.
Ive checked out the cases you suggested - although ive heard great things about lian - li i just dont like the look of them. The silverstone tj06 is loking preety good though. Just wondering what cases do you guys have, and would you recomend them?
Thanks

Did you look at the Antec P-160? I really like them.
Yeath thanks Scott i have looked at the antec, has some really good reviews and doesnt look that bad either, however i would prefer something with a door and maybe something aggresive and extreme to match the system inside lol.

the Silverstone has a pseudo-door. Check out my review of it here (http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=707). :)

I was going to suggest one of Tt's new cases and that Armor one fits the bill. It looks pretty interesting. I'm curious about it too. :)
Yeah i agrre shanewu the armor looks preety sweet, my cousin has the Tt tsunami and loves it. However i still cant see the point of the kandalf, its the same as the armor except for some crappy door, which everyone says in the reiew is crap.

I just bought the Dragon case and it ROCKS!!! (It usually costs around $189 though I got it for $108). Folks, this case is really the CREAM of the Crop when it comes to cases and you can read reviews about it online to prove it. MGE makes it.
I got mine in silver. Don't know how to post pics, though click the links below to see it. (By the way, the xgbox.com is MGE's homepage)

Coolermaster Centurion 5
I ordered one over the holidays. (Although I plan to remove the 3.5" drive bay completely and use my own custom-built hard drive rack in its place.)
SilentPCReview's review of the blue version
Pros:
- cheap! (I got it for $52 CDN on sale)
- no PSU (insert your own quality PSU)
- steel construction (quieter - less resonance than aluminum!)
- VERY open airflow design - front bezel is almost entirely steel mesh, and filtered
- aluminum accents on the bezel (not cheap plastic)
- bezel detaches completely from the case...with no power switch or anything to leave it dangling (all of that stays on the case)
- perfect design for a single 120mm rear fan IMO
- makes a completely stealth PSU duct possible
Cons:
- non-detachable 3.5" hard drive bay which uses a toolless design (MY SOLUTION: drill out the rivets and use a custom hard drive cage)
- would look better without the Centurion5 logo (MY SOLUTION: remove the logo)
- windowed door isn't available separately (SOLUTION: add your own window if you want one)

Come on, werty316! It is not THAT ugly! You should look on the "inside" not just the "outside". I've heard ONLY good things about this case and a lot of reviews are just prasing it.
I personally think it is a GOOD case, and quite PRETTY as well. So I guess it depends on one's personal taste.

If you wanted something clean simple and fresh.
There's no better then Lian-Lis.
Their case arent some cheaped up computer case bought in
a computer store where all your neighbords have the same case.
Those a classy high quality cases.
I myself received my PC-65 yesterday.
Wow i tell you even the pictures on the net dont do it justice.
I have to say like most people who ever got a lian-li.
This will probably be my last case ever ...(If it can last that long :p )
Here's a pic.

After searching for reviews my opinion on this case has changed a bit now. Because it light and has good features I go from hating it to be neutral about it. If it looked better on teh outside I would give it a plus.
Lian-Li cases are freakin sweet but costly.
