Had a friend ask me if folding on a modern card (470 or higher) is limited by an older mobo and chipset-say a 775. I assumed no but was not 100% sure. I think he is talking about his old e7500 rig.
Any thoughts?

Since some of the work is handled by the CPU, Data transfer etc., there is a very slight loss of PPD. if using the GPU3 core 15 you might notice it a bit more since it uses a bit of the CPU almost constantly. I would figure less than 200 PPD loss due to older specs. That is of cours a guess. I'd have to test it to be sure. just installed a GTX 295 on an old AMD 939 sytem and it's reporting 11K plus on mixed WU's (4k+ on one gpu, 7k+ on the other) so I'm gonna say that it's not enough to worry about if it's a decent folding card.
