Is there any way to optimize the windows 7 folder display? I see this delay every time I open a larger folder with lots of content, I get the green bar at the top (the path area) ticks from left to right, and then re-orders the content in the window. This is annoying if you want to scroll through to find a specific file, for example.

I'm sure there's some setting I'm missing.

Hmm, I think I remember a problem like this, though not 100% sure about the fix. Though does this only happen once at the beginning after you have done other things? It really depends on your hardware configuration, but it could be that the hard drive went to sleep and its waking up as you're trying to navigate through folders. One good thing to do is go into Power Options in the Control Panel, and set your power options for the hard drives to never go to sleep. This can help sometimes.

You could have a whole slew of issues. The first thing I would do is this:
Search Bar: type in “Windows Search”
Click on “Find and Fix problems with Windows Search”
Click on “Advanced” and set it to “Apply Repairs Automatically” then hit next.
Click the Box titled “Search or Indexing is Slowing Down the Computer’
