Thanks for reviewing it! It's a pity that no 3.5″ adapter tray is included. I think that 256GB is the minimum size for the system partition with many programs installed...

Value priced, but the question is what's going to happen with OCZ as a business? they seem to be in a bit of trouble.

Good question wkprusaczyk. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Kind of sucks for those that have OCZ and if OCZ goes out of business. Though I've seen businesses go out of business but they would still keep their warranty service as long as it was guaranteed.

yep OCZ SSDs are one of the cheapest out there today. but I heard OCZ is in trouble lately.. seagate and western digital looking to buy the company. I hope they survive the financial turmoil..

Nice review, SSD is the next gen of storage, simple, compact (need no more space where to put in) but it has faster speed than common storage.

I haven't heard about OCZ being in trouble, and I follow a lot of tech sites. It's weird. I have really loved OCZ hardware. From their psu's to their SSds. They used to have some of the fastest SSds on the market. ... But now there are so many alternatives and some which are faster

Yes.. that exactly.. been reading news from Forbes about the development.
Apparently it looks like OCZ will discontinue some of its product lines like its power supplies based on the other news I read.. They would be focusing on SDDs. But just like ryandigweed said, there are too many competitors in this field.. It's hard to gain an edge over companies like samsung, intel, corsair, plextor, crucial, and so on. Well, OCZ SDDs are one of the cheaper SDDs out there but not the cheapest. This is a tough market to beat... but they are trying.

you might just win a Vertex 4 256GB SSD :) Too bad SSDs are still luxury items for most people (based on where I come from). I can't even afford one. Yeah you might be wondering why not when I do have a respectable PC build. Well this took me more than a year to build and upgrade hardware piece by piece.

Yes najiro, just the fact that ocz is not the manufacturer of the NAND chips it means that they have to wait before they can actually buy the chips from the actual manufacturers, only after or when they make it available to public. So the companies that also manufacture the chips will have an edge over the competition, until the competition can bring something better to the market.

wow! that tells a lot. In terms of business and economic aspect of the manufacturer, they are basically dependent to the manufacturer of their products inputs. Be it pricing to quantity. Then samsung and intel would have a really huge edge in the SSD market. Wonder what's taking toshiba too long.. I remember toshiba made this 1TB SDD I read at tom's hardware. LOL. I think it failed to wow the audience saying it had inferior read and write speeds compared to SDDs of small capacities. There's even one review about SDDs having a "bleak" future in terms of totally replacing hard disk drives. I personally doubt that... With so many manufacturers entering the SSD market, It's likely capacities and speeds of these drives improve in the future. As for OCZ, I sure hope they would still be around when that future comes coz just for the record... the store near me only offer 3 brands of SSD.. Corsair, G.Skill and OCZ...
