Was just browsing a while ago when my PC suddenly restarts. To my surprise it went back on and nothing displays on screen. Checked the inside of my RIG to see the fans connected to the motherboard not working and I guess the entire motherboard is not working as well. Then it was restarting after a few second interval :(
What's going on!?!?!
This might be helpful
the +12V section reads 7.08V only.. X_______X
Is that normal or significantly low???
I don't remember that being like that.
Please help!

If the 12v is below 11.6v the system will not boot. Either the OS is not picking up the correct information from the BIOS and reporting incorrect information, or the BIOS is picking up incorrect information to begin with.
Since the system just restarted out of nowhere, check the RAM first. Run Memtest86+ for a few passes and see if it reports any errors. If yes, then you have either bad RAM or a bad memory controller. More than likely a bad RAM though.

I can't.. it's doing it again.. I installed a backup generic PSU and it booted but restarted and doing it again :( it could be the mobo? I'm confused... if only my new PSU arrive I could really troubleshoot this properly :( now im stuck using my laptop

did you check weather your mobo is shorting out somewhere, try running your system with mobo outside the case

Nope it was inside, a typical setup. THe mobo is around 5 months old, PSU 10 months. This is all of a sudden.. :(
I still think it's the mobo.. I was getting a video of it but I just can't watch it turn on and off, restart like crazy with only a few seconds interval. I think it's not powering the entire mobo fully coz I don't see anything on the screen but the fans and cooler is running.

I would pull out a multimeter and check the voltages of the PSU. If the initial PSU was going bad it could have take the motherboard down with it since your "generic PSU" exhibits the same rebooting symptoms.

Thanks for the help guys. I'd be heading to the dealer now and have everything checked

The only way to really figure this out then would be to use another MoBo, but that could be difficult particularly if you only have one of these systems.

weird turn of events. so it looks like half of the mobo's circuitry is paralyzed like it was stroked LOL.
the mobo is the issue and was sent for RMA now. I can't wait for it to get back so I'm borrowing my frend's intel P67 mobo.
Intel DP67BG
It actually looks cool, part of the intel extreme motherboard series

Did you have to reinstall windows on that temporary board?

He shouldn't need to if he is using Windows 7.

So pissed off right now. I am got my rig back, installed a different motherboard and the same thing occurs. I am certain this is a processor problem now. I'm angered that the technicians didn't figure that out and sent the motherboard for RMA. I'm using intel DP67BG which I happen to test before and it was okay. I can't even reach the BIOS and kept restarting. Post code error says 4F

What does 4F mean for that MoBo?

processor not supported. well, even if I use the stock bios it should be supported. I personally checked this very mobo 1 month ago for a frend and it did run properly.

Only one way to find out. Try another processor!

yeah.. that's the only thing left.. I already tried the following troubleshoot
1) change power cord
2) plug directly to outlet
3) remove rams (still restarts.. it should post error but not restart right?)
4) remove graphics card
5) removed cooler, used stock cooler
tomorrow I'll try borrowing a friend's i3 processor and his PSU as well. If not, I might just buy a pentium G processor and have the i5-2500k RMA :(

if that's what you gotta do, that's what you gotta do.

Btw, Intel RMA is quite legit, I had a huge problem with my processor like it started burning on the bottom for the gold contacts in a area.
<--- got a worse processor from the RMA but runs great.

I need help... so this is what happened. I finally got my rig up.. found out that the processor is dead and..... my evga video card is also dead.. I don't want to use that psu right now coz I think it did everything. killed all of my hardware.. now I need help regarding evga rma..

If you were here in the US, that would be easy. I think you might have to contact the Taiwan office for RMA help or perhaps the dealer / distributor where you purchased your card from for RMA services.

Not sure.
I say just hit up EVGA support for help. If anything, worst case scenario, do an RMA with them here in the US and use your aunt's address for the RMA.

thanks CDs.. I'm still trying some things. I hope it will work but what is the possible cause for destroying the mobo-cpu and graphics card all at once?

PSU is really the only thing that can do all that damage at once.

I'm thinking of the same thing. how can I check that?

overclock wise, And what not, requires like 1.2v at stock... Its kind of sad. As Ive tried it on another motherboard. I dont even wanna know what it takes to OC it.

Check the voltages with a multimeter.

I'm still clueless what caused this... could my UPS did this? feeding faulty power to my PSU or my PSU could have cleaned that?
werty316

Unless the UPS had some sort of malfunction, its highly unlikely it is what caused the issue.

OKay... some weird developments.. so I got back to my dealer.. pulled out a brand new ECS H61 motherboard, one generic 1333 ram stick and POOOOOOOOOOF! IT RAN! ~___~
We event ran prime 95.. WTF... I'm giving up... did I get another faulty motherboard?!?!? I dunnnnnnnnnnnnnoooo
I'm so stressed right now.. Had fun troubleshooting hardware at first but doing this for the 3rd consecutive day and on the same pieces of hardware is making me crazy!!!

It would seem that it is your mobo again. I would still check voltages on PSU and Mobo if you can.

Ohh yeah! Exactly!! the intel DP67BG have some issues. It can detect the i3-2120 but not my i5-2500k!! same with my GTX 560TI......... finally my friend told me to change the motherboard with an ASUS P8Z77-V and it's working fine so far. Will rebuild my PC later.. piece of hardware are all over my room after more troubleshooting which I hope is that LAST ONE X_____X
I wanna sleep well tonight.. The thought of broken hardware doesn't help me achieve that...
