I thought the movie was pretty entertaining. While the subject itself is deep, the movie really wasn't so much. Still, I love action movies and found it to be worth the $5.50 and 1.5 hours. 8)

Anyone else see it? What did ya think?

Also, my wife and I watched Stealth and I was surprised by it. Yes it was cheesy and shallow but entertaining nonetheless. Haven't seen good fighter plane scenes in a movie for quite some time!

Meh. I'm so far out of the loop, I didn't even know about Stealth until it was already in video.

I think the last movie I saw in the theatre was "The Incredibles" with my two older kids. The baby keeps us renting buying to view at home.

Not really sure how this will play. I am gonna wait till the dvd is out as when it comes to comic books made into movies. I am a bit hesitent as to go out and see them. Alot of them were crap.take the newest, Fantastic Four. It wasn't even close on how Doctor Doom got his powers. Also X3 looks like a hit or miss considering the track record of the new director but it migt actually be good.

On updating comics in general: All the super heros get updated from the "freak nuclear accident" to genetic manipulation or something else that fits the current pop-media. 40 years ago, everyone was afraid of the bomb, so comics worked with that. Now, everyone over 6 years old knows about gene splicing.

What do you think of the "Ultimate" series of Marvel?

I not sure I don't read comics anymore. My brother does and we talked about the Ultimate series. I guess Marvel wants more $.

How about Spider-Man? Originally, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider. He created his web fluid and shooters. In the movie, he's bitten by a genetically altered spider. Now he shoots webs from his wrists.

Personally, I like the old character better. He's much smarter than the movie version. Creating his webs, thinking his way out of many traps, etc.

Now, I think Toby does an excellent job in the movies, and I credit the whole team for sticking with the overall feel for the characters. A two hour movie just doesn't cut it for everything that happens in a comic - especially 40 years of back story. I wish they could tell the story a lot slower, but again, not everyone wants to see an 8 hour movie just to introduce a character.

The Ultimate Spider-Man is similar to the movie in that the story is moving very fast - they're throwing Carnage and other bad guys at a teenage Spider-Man. Also, it was a genetically manipulated spider with the super-secret "OZ" formula that gives Peter his Amazing powers.

Good stories, but different. I agree with the thought that Marvel wants more money. They're trying to reach a new group of readers.

Speaking of gaining new readers...

Does anyone else read the comic Melonpool.com? The creator, Steve Troop reset his universe - wiping out about 10 years of comics. It's starting over - sort of like the "Ultimate Marvel" series.

Yeah Spiderman was messed with that fact too. I guess some things in comic books can be broken but as long as they don't make a crappy story line its ok I guess. One movie I am hoping they don't bouch is the new Tranformers CG live action movie. the track record of Transformers TV shows has been great. Lets hope this ends the curse of a great childhood franchise.

Transformers... That one I just might take the kids to see.

I'm sure they'd enjoy it.

I wouldn't go just for myself.

No, really.

No, I did watch the original series, along with He-Man, GI Joe, G-Force... I even remember when "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" aired on HBO and thought it was awsome at the time. Now I see it out on DVD and am sorely tempted.

One good reason to see Aeon Flux is to see Charlize Theron in that costume. Oh yeah

Oh? Charlize is in that? I didn't recognize her. Nor have I been keeping up with the news.

She's getting into a lot of movies.

What her name in the credits man. Common on now. I know you can read. If you haven't been up with the news, whatever that means, how owuld you know she is in alot of movies? You must watch tv then. I think you mean movies news.

I mean I don't read up on all the latest movies so I don't know who's acting in what at the moment.

If I watched lots of TV then I would probably have seen ads for this movie and known she was in it.

So really, I'm just not paying attention.

Meh, heard it wasn't very good... at most, a rental for me. I love comic book/animation movie as much as the next geek, but I just can't see how they can capture the raw kinetic energy of the animation in the real world.... :?
