In my openion Windows XP Home edition is quite ideal for a home user where as many a people are wasting a lot of money in purchasing Windows XP Pro for their home PCs.
Correct me if i'm wrong

Which edition you are using?

Pro is more than most users need for sure. I'm a little concerned about the other post that mentions no updates for Home after 2006 though. I hope MS doesn't really pull that crap.

PRO is the one for me .
when vista comes out i will look at for sure but if it will cause my system to lag
i will stick with PRO

It's even more confusing for Vista - there's like 6 or 7 versions! They won't all be available in every country but it's still crazy that MS is making even more versions... like 2 'home' versions and 3 or 4 enterprise versions... gag.

I'm also with the PRO version. The differences between the 'Home' and 'Pro' versions is not that big, but still, I like to 'Pro' more.

Regarding the 'Vista', I'm really looking forward to it to be available.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna install it as soon as it will be out (yeah, I know, I don't have patience  ). Hopefully it won't have 'too many' bugs.

Pro is a better choice for what I need, considering I'm a developer. I have a lot more control over the system and a few more "power user" features than what's in Home, plus it's more secure. For what I do, it's worth the extra money.

+1 for Pro - I'm sure with a few hacks you can open things up, but I much prefer the contol over the network settings that Pro provides (being able to access a Domain, etc.).

I use a 3 different versions in my household depending on what system I'm on at the time. All three virsions are slip streamed onto one DVD for ease of installation............... 8)
