The new OS that will be released by Microsoft has a new codename.Although Microsoft is still trying to release Vista later this year, the company has renamed the OS coming after Vista.
Vienna that was once called Blackcomb is the new codename from Microsoft.The Vista update promises to have better search, a new graphics engine and other improved features.

Ok, I'm a bit of a n00b here... so fill me in:
Vista = 64-bit Windows, yes?
Vienna = formerly Blackcomb, which is the next O/S after Vista?! Will this be yet another update, or a totally new O/S? :?:

Nah its just a new kind of windows like Windows 98 to Windows ME.
For 64 there`s already Windows XP 64.
Thats what i`m running but dont ever use that.
A bunch of things arent compatible its ridiculous.
Vista is the next one thats coming out soon.
Then we will have Vienna come out after.
I mean they will have a new interface and other features.
If you want me to post the features of both new OSs.
Well so far There`s not much known on Vienna.
But I could tell you about Vista if you wanted.

I nearly stopped reading after you said Vista is to XP as ME was to 98.... :? I purchased ME.... and not 6 months later it was off my hd and I sold my copy on e-bay, just to be finally rid of that piece of junk :evil:
I am interested in any details about Vista and/or Vienna though. I am all ears :)

Windows Vista has many new features such as an updated graphical user interface called Aero, improved searching technology, a number of new security features, and completely new networking, audio, print, and display engines. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network, making it easy to share files, password settings, and digital media between computers and devices. Windows Vista also has an entirely new development API, called WinFX, based on the .NET framework, which aims to make it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than WinFX's predecessor, Win32.
(Sorry I didn't mean to compare 98 to ME what i meant to say is that its another windows.)
