Please share with us your thoughts regarding the subject.

If you download media, is it because it is free, maybe getting even with the entertainment companies that set the prices too high?

If not, is it because it is illegal? the fear of maybe getting caught? or just wanting to "push" the industry forward and encourage the creators to keep up the good work?

I support and buy things I really love.

Arrrrrghhhhhhh, I have gotten everything (almost everything I ever wanted through P2P) But what I have liked I have bought and watched again.

Getting even? no I don't think that way.
I just get the few songs that I like, I realy don't care about music and movie downloading, I have gotten a few but I have dupes of most of what I have downloaded from the net and there pad for, the others I would never pay for them as I don't like them that much.

So I have a few. (lot less then most I think!)

To tell you the truth.
Let's take the video game industry.
The game industries don't care about customers anymore.
I mean just take Activison for exemple.
Call of Duty 2 instead of taking their time they had to meet a deadline released the game without any anti-cheat software.
These guys NEED to get their software riped off you know why because they lose money and losing money well they close and the more cheap not caring companies closed the better.
Thats my opinion.
As far as music goes.
Music is supposed to be an art isn't it?
I mean back in the days you had a bard playing his little guitard for a peice of bread why because he loved playing music.
Nowadays you have all those little Jessica Simpson Britney Spears rip-offs and these guys need to be closed also..
As far as softwares if you want one you should pay for it.
But the cost to build a super computer nowadays is expensive so its normal that people download a bunch of them and I understand that.
Its not everyone one that is rich enough to spend $1000+ dollards for a processor.
My personal opinion (or my dream maybe) is if hardware would go down people would have money to buy softwares but then again...

I completely agree with the music thing I do buy music but i buy music where people are actually singin and it aint digitally enhanced, where those people also wrote their songs, and the songs had a meaning. I listen to the good old rock like the beatles, the rolling stones, Neil Young(he is my idol best canadian singer ever) i also listen to bob marley, peter tosh i like the good old stoner music oh yeah bob dylan he cant sing worth **** but hes the best american songwriter of our time, so yeah music i dont even pirating cuz all they have is crap nowadays artists who acnt sing, or write their own songs so thats my view

I don't download any music or videos............ :D
But I do use DVD xCopy from time to time...........
As for PC games, I normally get them from my son after he's finished with them, except for the UT series, it's the only one I go out and buy outright.

I think no one is 100% innocent  . But the best answer for me will be "I support and buy things I really love." (I think I've said enough. I'll leave the rest for you :) ).

O ya I forgot I downloaded all 3 seasons of Jackass.

But those are on TV. So I could have used my VCR instead.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with that.

100% legal / shareware / freeware.

I haven't purchased any "pop" music in about 15 years. There's nothing on the radio that interests me that much. It's not pirates that are causing the drop in music sales, it the lack of talent.

Games? I purchase them when the price drops to where it's worth it for me. So I'm a little behind the curve when it comes to playing what everyone else is right now, but I pay a lot less for it (excluding pirates!).

I do not trust EA, and Hasbro. I have to get it by some other means to try before I will buy it. For instance, after getting cheated by purchasing software like, NASCAR Heat, Ea's NASCAR titles, Battlefield Vietnam, etc. I'm scared to buy software because they poorly design it.

However, I did play and enjoy EA's Golf game so after getting if for free through other means I did go out and purchase it. Papyrus or Ratbag never failed me buy selling me junk so I have purchased nearly every title they have ever released. I downloaded Rise of Nations and Empire Earth and they are both quality. I have since bought all of them and their expansions. I buy Microsoft Flight sims, quality, and download and delete the junk others are making. LucasArt repackages the same old garbage and I started downloading most of it. Battlefront and Battlefront 2 are awesome, and I purchased both. Valve has a hit with Halflife and I have bought Halflife 2. I only bought one Quake and Unreal, but I have downloaded and deleted the others.

When a company can show me a track record for not rushing and releasing junk, I'll support them and buy their products. When someone packages something as poorly designed and buggy as Battlefield Vietnam they deserve to be ripped.

I do buy operating systems. For less than the price of 3 pieces of crappy software you can by an operating system to run it. You better believe it is worth supporting. Call Microsoft greedy all you want, their operating systems are cheap in comparison to most of the software you buy to run ON it.

I own more than 300 DVD's and 250 CD's, but I would be lying it I said I did have a handful of ones I did not buy. I will not pay more than $7 for a music CD. I consider that a record company robbing me.
