Isn't google also supposed to be releasing an OS as well that'll be cool if it happens

Lots and lots of rumors floating around about Google right now. As for a OS, there has been no offical word one way or the other on that subject. They did say yesterday that they are using Linux internally at the company though.

my guess is that when they feel it's rready they will release as beta for a small community (gmail clients ??) and only after a very long time release to public.
but still not as OS for the masses - because for that they need to have a GIANT support crew.
to handle the problem
time will tell.....

I read that Google has their own modified version of Ubuntu Linux that they use internally. It's referred to as Goobuntu, and it is possible that they make it available some day.

I doubt they would create an OS from scratch and release that, though.

they don't have to create an OS from scratch Linux is open so they can use as long as they give it free and open for changes.
