Hi ...
I am getting a new graphics card and i was wundering what is best out of these to :
HIS X800 GTO
HIS X1600XT ( 4 pixel pipelines is that correct :s)
Thanks ..
First of all, welcome to our community!
Well, for you question, go for the HIS X800 GTO which is definitley better than the X1600XT.
You can take a look here:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com/showthread.php?t=1201663
X1600XT and X800GTO (both outclassed by 6800GS in performance and price, and X1600XT performs worst than X800GTO yet priced like X800GTO, around 339-359)
They put (based on previes on the net) both your cards in the "Cards to avoid" section, but recommand the X800 over the X1600XT.
For that price range, I would go for the 6800GS or X800GTO2 256MB.

Good luck, let us know your decision...

Pym hes talking company HIS is a maker of ATI cards I know most ppl here use nVidia and might not know that pffft. r4zor I reccomend no ATI and get the 6800gs, it will ouutperform undercost, and ATI couldn't make drivers to run their cards, i mean get out of a box.....

I have always been using ATi cards.
I just won a Nvidia card so i``ll be able to compare myself.
To tell you the truth i`ve always liked ATis pricing / performance wise.
I have had a x800pro and im about to receive a 6800GS so ill see wich one is better.
HIS does not mean Hightech.
HIS is make their own cards with ATI GPU.

HIS is a good card maker and Bit-tech seemed to love their X800 GTO (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2005/10/07/his_x800gto_iturbo/1.html).
I wouldn't worry too much about someone who likes nVidia telling you that ATi sucks, it's just what they do. ATi's drivers are actually a lot better than nVidia's now, (IMHO), and their monthly release schedule means you'll keep getting updated drivers every month. :)
The only reason I'd recomend an nVidia card over an ATi one is if you plan to use it with Linux or if you're REALLY into some openGL game...otherwise I just see ATi as the better card maker right now.
Well, honsetly, I really never heard of that company...
Still, I have nothing against ATI (although I have a habit of buying Nvidia) but, as I said earlier, I recommand the 6800GS with no doubt in this case.
It outclasses both of the cards you were talking about on you first post.

I never said tha ATI sucks, you're jumping to conclusions.
He asked for advice for two certain cards.
I gave him my opinion, marked the better of his options and you can't argue with the 6800GS being better than both of them, and cheaper.

According to reviews the XFX 6800GS is an AWESOME card.
With higher clock speeds and such.
Destroying X1600.
Here is the article on the inquirer

Think im gonna go for HIS X800 GTO since it performs better in Half Life 2 (i only play css) and it also has high over clocking ability ..

pym i think he was talking about me saying ati sucks and he wasnt jumping to conclusions about my statements lol, but still i thikn over all you get more consistent power from nVidia than you do ati i hav used many of ATI, and nVidia i used ATI's most successful series 9series cards and they were all outperformed in my opinion by all the nvidia cards i have used... but its up to you depends on what games you like to play so i leave it at that

Nope, but if he can afford a 6800GS than he can afford the HIS X800GTO2 which will toast the 6800GS... ;)
Besides, ATi still has better image quality. No shimmers and nicer AA. :)
EDITED BITS: BTW-I have both an X800 and a 6800 currently, I prefer the X800.

nVidia might have slightly better openGL performance, but ATi's don't suck....I played both those games just fine on my X800. :)

If you'll take a second and look at my first post for r4zor's question, you'll see I recommended him exactly that ;)
About css, I believe you should look from a more distant angle and think... if you love css, you'll probably love other future games that will resemble it, then, you'll want the better card overall, not specifically for css...
As you wish :)
