According to this news article posted on tomshardware, intel is apparently working on lowering the power consuption of the desktop systems to 60W. That is like more than half of current 130W! Let's hope that intel can live up to its promises.

With the way things went with their prescott chip I doubt it but then again I like AMD more.

well, the pentium M is heck of power saving CPU. The next gen of cpu is based on that so I think there's a possibility for the lower power consuption. I think that AMD really is a better cpu for the desktop at the moment but I think intel is not far behind with their lineup.
