i this time almost evry appliaction is taking a large amount of space and memory.
not in all times this is completely neccesry the following site has a list and explanations about very small and free apps which you can use.
usually small appliaction means small memory footprint and faster reactions

I must agree.
Today's software seems to be a lazy mass of bloated, underdeveloped and half-broken code that takes up more HD space then it should, run slower every version that comes out, becomes more buggy and just is all around baddly designed.
Focusing on crushing as much "functionality" as possible into the least bytes as possible is what engineers would call "eligant", and just makes sense. Imagine if all software were truly bug free and ran fast on a Pentium 100, how much faster it would run on today's rigs!

i think developers toady are depending too much on the hardware to companstae on slow\bad coding and that the newer coding language are manging a lot of code automatically.
also that most computers come with big amount of memory so all this leads to slower applications.
also a major drawback is the race for more complexed GUI that take a lot of resource from the computer.
