There you have it, old MS bull**** again. Halo 2 is finally coming to the PC, but ONLY ON WINDOWS VISTA!!! There is NO technical reason why this is necessary, so it is just a marketing gimmick to force us to upgrade to enjoy what we PC gamers have been really wanting. I truly hope someone finds out how to hack the game to work on XP or earlier, as I will buy this game if it can be made to work on XP. This just goes to show how desperate MS is to sell Vista, as there is really little that is much better then XP, so they have to build artificial incompatibilities into the games!

This is gonna suck if it doesn't get ported to XP. I don't really like Vista so far. Also a link form xbox.com

Lol, my thoughts exactly! As long as someone fixes Halo 2 to work on XP I am good.

Isn't halo 2 a bit outdated? Halo was outdate by the time it came out for PC, and I never met a single person who owned it. I'll assume that Halo 2 will have the same groundbreaking effect.

This is important to the small group of us (me included) that like the Halo universe, but do not have/want an XBox. The PC is the only alternative for us, and using a mouse is much more responsive and logical in a FPS. (Hides under rock... )

Just an FYI.. You're going to see more announcements like this in the future. I have a buddy that's a game developer for a company that I can't name (lives in Dallas though so take your pick) working on a project that I can't name but one thing I can say is that MS is making a big push for Vista exclusive titles to go with the OS launch.
They want to have some AAA titles to go with the OS at launch to showcase the power and gaming features of the OS.

Even though nobody's going to buy it until a few years and a couple of service packs after it's released? Are most of the title going to be XBox games?

That's why they're making must-have titles exclusively for Vista, to help sell the OS. They know gamers will jump on it if it's got the games they want and the performance is there. It's the same as the hardware market, gamers drive it.
MS is paying a lot of money to get access to these titles and make them Vista exclusive, they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't think it'll help them sell the OS faster.
gamers drive it.
A game was my chauffer to Windows 95 in April of '97.
I was happy using DOS boot disk til X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter came along.

But there were valid reasons that the game could only run on 95, due to the nature of the OS and its capabilities. Vista has no technology necessary to run any of these "Vista only games", so the incompatibility is artificial, as in the game simply checks to see if it is on Vista, and if not throws up an error message and a link to pay M$ lots of $.

From what I have heard and read vista is gonna be a significantly cheaper OS than XP. I heard that the retail box versions will range any where from $89-139 depending on whether u get basic, home, enthusiast, pro, or corporate. So i am not really concerned about Halo 2 only being on vista cuz vista will be much cheaper so it'll all be good

That's a very good way to sell the OS, or anything for that matter.
Just get unique and desired stuff that only your product can use and you're on your way...
Halo was such a teaser since it has come out for the XBOX...
It gave XBOX a reason to exist in front of the mighty PS2...

Knights of the Old Republic is the reason I got an Xbox.. That and that fact that I could get it free with my AmEx points. :)
Never had XBOX nor have I ever tried it...
I had PS2 (got it for Starcraft ghost which was never released...)
Now I am back with PC gaming.
