Been using this for a couple weeks. My subscription to Norton ran out. Anyone know anything about it? I'd hate to find out it isn't any good by having a virus kill my PC.

So far it seems alright, and best of all it is FREE. Save me from having to buy 4 copies of Norton every year when my subscription runs out.

I have been using AVG for like 1.5 years better than Norton/McCafe the computer store I work at reccomends this to ppl over any other ones plus it is free. They also reccomend Anti-Vir which is another great program so if i was you I would never buy another Anti Virus and just use AVG/Anti-Vir. From what I have seen at my workplace many ppl come in with either Norton, or McCafe, and are complaining of viruses than we scan their system with AVG/Anti-Vir and find many viruses never had a problem with it yet. Any time I have thought I have had a virus and I scanned with AVG it has detected and killed it than everything is back to normal so I hope this helps you. :) :)

I heard that AGS is a pretty good anti virus, never tried it...
I am using Avast for about 3 months, since my subscription to Norton ran out as well.
It is a great free anti virus, automatic updates (with voice alert when updated - nice) and FREE!!!
You just need to subscribe once a year at their site.

I've been usinc PC-cillin for some time now, and not only does it seem to be a lighter program than Norton, but I've encountered fewer problems since I've used it.

Wen form McAfee to Norton and now NOD32 is my choice. I like NOD32 the most.

I totally agree werty316 NOD32 and Kaspersky are the two best, NOD 32 has a much smaller footprint and it much more configurable, I'm starting my third year using it and haven't been the least bit disappointed. The only downside is that it isn't free and there are annual license fees.

Yeah it sucks for those who are willing to pay. Mine on the other hand has about 16.7 million days left :P

Yeah, I heard that NOD32 and Kaspersky are great but never really tried them. I installed Avast! and I am well protected.

I've used AVAST for years till I got a copy of Symantec Corp 9, I may go back to AVAST though, it's not near as bloated............... :shock:

I think AVAST is about the best free AV program out there these days.

NOD 32 is the one i like most.
it cost money but well worth it.
updates sevral times a day sometimes
and small on memory load.

I used AVG for a while. It's good, and it's FREE :) I was tired of Norton and wanted a change, and a friend recommended AVG. It did it's job, I can't complain about it. I actually preferrend it over Norton (no other add on programs to install). It was also quick, easy to use, and I believe virus updates were available quite frequently as well.

AVG is great for home use, i've been using it for many years and its just everything that home users needs for virus protections - automatic updates every day, different types of scanning your computer and so on, very good piece of software 8)

I use it all the time..i think it is great...auto update, scaning, e-mail scanner, normal virus vault...
