Replacing an XBOX DVD drive

I replaced the slow DVD drive on mine with a faster one and replaced the BIOS also.

You can't just replace the DVD drive with any drive like that and run with it as the button to open the drawer does not work. The wiring of the XBOX drive is different. Mine for instance I made a jumper for the power and hooked the IDE cable up to it, but had to leave the original in place because I did not want to rewire the new drive to work in its place.

huh? I find that article lacking, that power cable seems far from a standard dvd drive power plug and they mention nothing about that.
