I have just read this article which says interesting things about the advertised Quad SLI like there won´t be retailers selling this double cored cards (only in some pcs like voodoo ones) and that nowadays double cored cards (like that made by gigabyte) can´t run in Quad SLI:

But just how much will a Quad SLI setup set you back? That’s the question that still hasn’t received a specific answer just yet. We’ve got a feeling though that Quad SLI is going to be one of those products that if you have to ask, chances are you can’t afford it.

That sums it all up for me. No doubt we'll see this fairly soon, but it will come with a high price tag.

as i see it beside the very high price you can get one if you will pay it
nvidia will not prudice a lot of as it is not producing a lot of 7800GTX 512 MB because this is ultra high end card and the demand is low .

True, you have to have a lot of money to buy one of those quad SLI setups, anyway, I don´t see much sense of buying one unless you don´t know where you can waste your money and you have a lot.
A solution for rich people

Yeah, the 7800GTX is a very pricey card. I don't know many people that have (or will have) two 7800GTX cards running in SLI (exept Scott, maybe  ) not mentioning running FOUR 7800GTX in QUAD setup, which is absolutely crazy (in terms of money, I mean).

(Just kidding, Scott. No offence, ha? )

My pocketbook dictates that I let the technology mature for a while.

During that time, I'll keep an eye on AMD's M2 and see what happens.

Perhaps by next year the fire will be hot and and it'll be time to strike.

It takes a long time to roll that many pennies.

Interestingly, these power supplies are not just expensive at around $400 per unit, they apparently are also nearing the limits of the power capability in some residential buildings

The next overclocker's can't-live-without-it PC accessory:
