Hi!

We have released a new Review called: Thermaltake ToughPower 550W.
Here is a small summary of the Review:"If you're in the market for stable rails, ATX compliancy, SLI/CrossFire/dual-core support and a nice clean design, then Thermaltake's ToughPower 520W power supply is right for you. The MSRP for this unit is set at $129.99, so that's not a bad deal considering the price for PurePower models (with panel) range from $140 to $160 green. ToughPower will be available worldwide in mid-March .... "

You can find the whole Review here: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=878

We would love to hear your comments about both the Review as well as the item we are reviewing in this thread.

Best regards

I really liked the look of this PSU :) . I'm also satisifed that this PSU comes with sleeving for all the cables (at least this is what I understood from observing the pictures).

The PSU really impresses with the fact that it provides 550 Watts, which allows you to reach a amperage consumption of upto 38A. What really bothers me is that PSU is still lacking enough "Ampers" for the +12V rail :( .

Nowadays, when most high-level Video Cards are really power-demanding and require at least 18A (for the 6800GT/GS/Ultra) or at least 24A (for the 7800GT and 7800GTX), not mentioning SLI configuration, I don't get why Thermaltake are not paying attention to that fact and providing us a PSU with "only" 19A on the +12V rail :( .

It's really good that this PSU supports 24pin, but as far as I understood, it doesn't support 24pin "native" connector (maybe I'm wrong with that one).

Anyway, I currently own a Thermaltake PSU myself. It is a Thermaltake Purepower 480W and so far I'm pretty satisfied with it. I just really hope that it will have enough Power (and Ampers) to drive my new configuration to come, which will include a NF4 mobo with XFX 6800GS video card and X2 3800+ CPU. :?

Anyway, thanks for a wonderful review. Keep 'em coming!
