Genre: Historic First-Person Shooter
Release Date: Q4 2006
Platforms: PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, XBOX, X360, GC, DS, GBA, MOBILE
Somewhere towards the end of the previous century, before the video games industry made millions out of the second world war, we experienced it through Medal Of Honor.
As time passed, we emptied a lot of magazines, shot thousands of bullets and upgraded our video cards (a few times), and our expectations from this genre have grown enormously.
Since Medal Of Honor has been released, most of the game's developers quit and created Infinity Ward (that brought us the wonderful Call Of Duty series).
Electronic Arts did not give up and developed some Medal Of Honor games of her own, while others are trying their own WWII based games such as Gearbox's realistic Brothers in Arms.
Now, as the market is flooded with WWII games, we are not exactly running to buy each new one that is released.
Rolling some new battles, weapons and vehicles into a plastic box and wrapping it with some explosions pictures just doesn't excite us anymore...
The new Medal Of Honor: Airborne is not going to recycle anything! It is going to take the linear approach of the previous games and crash it, creating the most dynamic war game on the market.
Now you're asking yourself, hmmm, how is that going to happen...
The answer? parachuting!

Jumping around
Join Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Don't get too comfortable since you'll almost immediately jump out of the plane and land behind enemy lines.
This time, we will fight only with this Division throughout the whole game.
Before jumping out of the plane, you will have a few seconds to decide the direction and during the fall, you'll be able to change the angle with the parachute.
While falling, you'll be surrounded by planes, part of them dropping bombs on germen cities while others shoot loudly into the cold air.

The ground, that looked like a beautiful drawing just a few seconds ago, got closer rapidly, and you can now see scorched trees, houses catching fire and black smoke all around.
You push your parachute to the right, trying to land in one of the allies, it is not long before your legs hit the street's road.
You hear a man shouting, probably in German, a burst of gun fire splits the air and the screen gets reddish, while your bloody figures search for the Quick Load shortcut...

Run Forrest, Run!
You load your game and, once more, falling towards the ground, whispering prayers to keep those whistling bullets away from you and your parachute.
You take a left, away from that damned alley ;) and into the field near the small town. Suddenly, you're stopped between earth and sky. A quick look upwards reveals you're parachute got stuck on a tree.
Right under your feet, two germens speak loudly and look pretty upset.
The parachute gets torn and you fall right between those two who kill you instantly.
After reloading (I have a point here...) you try once more, this time, you aim to one of the roof tops of one of the houses in town.
You land on it and take your weapon out, scanning the streets around you.
Another one of your men lands right into the alley, a scream in germen is heard but this time, you already have your rifle pointed right at them...
What I am trying to say is, this game is dynamic as no war game succeeded to be. You can emerge from anywhere, forcing a perfect AI in order to behave correctly in each situation and react well to your surprises.
You can finish each level as you wish, in any order and direction.
The developers promise that this fact does not mean we won't have full action scenes and adrenaline rushes...
World War II, Next Generation
If there's anything that Medal Of Honor: Airborne is not going to fall at, it is the graphics...
This is the first in the series that will be developed to the PS3 and Xbox360 as well as PS2, Xbox and the PC.
I hope, though, that EA will be able to maintain high level and performance for all those platforms at once.
For now, the graphics outclasses all the previous games of the series, the face animation are accurate and detailed - amazing!
You game partners are very realistic, you can actually see the fear in their eyes while warning you about enemy troops on 10 o'clock...
Even briefings will be given by actual characters and not some virtual page while loading the level.
Behind the game we can find Capt. Dale Dye, who has worked as the Military Technical Advisor for the last 7 Medal of Honor games, and will help creating a realistic and authentic experience.

How to conquer Berlin in 7 levels
The game's campaign is divided to 7 different levels.
Maybe that doesn't sound too much, but developers promise us that each one of them is a huge battle field with vast areas and assignments to complete. The 7 levels stand for the 7 main battles that the 82nd Airborne Division has taken part in.
Starting with the big failures in the beginning, to the amazing victories towards the end of the war.
The levels are full with hidden areas and surprises, for those of you who like moving each stone and exploring each passage.
I personally prefer a shorter game with thrilling moments and pure action than a repetitive and boring one... (http://www.bjorn3d.com/theforum/viewtopic.php?t=61436)
It is very interesting to see what other innovative ideas will Medal Of Honor: Airborne bring to us.
Will we look for health boxes across the levels or it will follow Call Of Duty by regenerating health automatically.
The real revolutionary idea is the parachuting one.
This lets the player decide the place he wants every level to begin and of course, it effects the progress of it.
Welcome, to the new WWII...
