My wireless Logitech has sticky keys and it drives me nuts. For you touch typists out there, what keyboard has the best feel? I prefer wireless, but will go with wired if I can find one with excellent feel.

Sunbeam Tech Solar lighted KB.............. The price was right for a lighted KB, and did I mention that it has a brushed aluminum finish........... 8)

I use a Logitech Cordless Comfort Pro or something like that...it's one of the ergo wireless ones. it's not bad, although I find myself using the keyboard of my Fujitsu T4020 pretty much everytime I need to type up papers these days.

Bryan, good call, I have a Logitech cordless Kepboard.

I had problems with the software last month as I tried installing Windows XP Home. :(

I Own a copy of Windows XP Home so I thought I would give it a try, lmao.
I have never used it before so I thought I would give it a go.

My Logitech keyboard does not work now. So I went to the Logitech website and tried to install there software. It won't work.
(It blody well hased to work b/c it did under Windows Windows XP PRO.)

So I went back and forth with Logitech and they basically dropped this case (after about 6 decent tries at helping me) said that there was nothing more that they could do.

They simply stopped e-mailing me!
My last question was basically like what more can I do?

I Never herd another thing!

Perhaps I will keep you informed.
I have used a Variety of Logitech Products in the past, and there will be more for you to read about soon I am sure.
I have bought to much of there product to deal with this ****!

I can't post how much of there (CRAP) that I have bought, I am ****ing furious. I will let you all know how it goes.

Bryan,

Why don't you get a cheap junker for interm use. The take your logitech apart and clean it. Almost all keyboard are just membrane design and can be take apart and cleaned.

I should have mentioed that it is a Logitech and I did clean it last weekend. I dusted it and washed the keys. For some reason the Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys still stick. I don't know why, but it is cumbersome. I like the keyboard so I'll probably go with another Logitech (no software issues w/XP Pro). I was curious to see if there was another brand that people just LOVED.

You did take the keyboard apart and washed the stuff under hot water? That is what I was suggesting except the actually electronic part of the board.

Or you can do like I do, just chuck the whole keyboard fully assembled into your dishwasher and then let it dry for 4 days turning it a couple of times a day...works like a charm. 8)

As for the best feeling keyboard, by far the best I've ever used is the Logitech Ultra X (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=23-126-135&depa=0).

http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/23-126-135-01.JPG

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the keys aren't normal keyboard keys...they're the short/flat laptop style scissor-keys, but on a full-sized keyboard. Very low-profile, and insanely easy/fast to type on.

My kittays spilled a coke on mine again so it's in line for the dishwasher, I actually now have 5 keyboards to wash in there at once so I'm doing a keyboard load next.

(Having 2 kids each with their own PC means learning how to clean/repair keyboards and I always keep some spares on hand)

I think I've seen the Ultra X for as low as $13us, I'll try and find the link. I've been meaning to pick up a few more as I really do love it to pieces, just a scarily good keyboard that makes it feel like you've upgraded the hell out of your PC. :)

That's basicly the same type of keys I have on the Sunbeam, except that the Sunbeam is a back lighted design. the original keys were silver with only the letters being lit, but I switched out the key with a clear set so now the whole key is lit with black letters............ 8)

Original layout.

Here's the way the KB looks after the key change.

Where did you find the translucent keys to fit it, and how hard was it to switch 'em?

Also I don't mean to sound picky, but I couldn't use that keyboard regularly. It has a dinky backspace key, I prefer the double-sized one.

(Yeah, I know I'm super picky...but it's my keyboard, y'know? )

I just happened to have a old sunbeam KB around that I hated the layout (Multi-Media/Office type) so I switched the keys, they just pop out when pulled on a little off center.
As for the small back space key, it does take a little getting used to...........

Yeah, I know. I'm using an old $3 cheapy right now waiting for my UltraX to dry and it has the little one too. (And the "|" key is in the wrong place!)

Which brings me to the UltraX's biggest downside, once you use it you're sort of spoiled for life and all regular keyboards will forever feel slow and a bit clunky to you. :(

I just washed the key side and left the electronics alone except for the Dust Off. I may try the dishwasher next, that sounds like a great idea!

I use pretty Logitech products exclusively... but when my old Logitech keyboard died, I need a keyboard badly, and all that my local computer store had in stock was the Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard... it works great and I got a great deal on it (about $10!)

The Logitech G5 Gaming keyboard is the current cream of the crop for me. If you can afford, I'd get this in a heartbeat ;)

The dishwasher was the cure! After a regular spin through it (air dry, not heat dry), all keys are operating like new again. Excellent tip!

For my next inputting adventure I just ordered a Wolf King Warrior (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823146002) from Newegg yesterday. :D

It just looked too sweet and caught my interest, that and it's new enough that I can do a review of it that could still be timely/topical.

Win/win. :)

Oh, and I'm really thinking of picking up a Saitek Eclipse (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7069469&type=product&id=1108126082332) to check out...I have too many friends raving about it.

I have Logitech UltraX keyboard - it's the best part of my computer  . I like flat keyboards: when i started using Logitech UltraX i don't want too see any other keyboards.

The dishwasher turned out to be not so good an idea. I guess there's some lubricrant in the keys because after a few days they all began to catch and stick. That caused me to suddenly become hypersensitive to the generally squishiness of Logitech keyboards. I realized what loved most was my grimy Key Tronic keyboard at work. So I ordered standard black PS2 Key Tronic keyboard from Amazon and I LOVE it. 8)

After my old Logitech keybaord died I had to run to CompUSA for a quick replacement. I'm particular about the type of keyboard layout I like and unfortunately the newer logitech keyboards that had the layout I liked no longer had the feel I prefered. I ended up going with an inexpensive Memorex MX2710 keyboard which is incredibly similar to the Logitech one I used to use. It's got some multimedia buttons up top that I never use. I don't know many people that do use those things. I'm also not a fan of the new thicker style of space bar that's become popular.

I use Surface Cleaner wet cleaning wipes to clean my keyboard and all other computer things and works very well. Those cleaning cloths are universal (you can clean almost everything with those) and anti-static.
Recommend those to everybody, just buy those from any computer store.

I have 3 keyboard with multimedia keys and I've never used a single one. It's all about the key feel for me.

Agreed, and last night my wife used my UltraX for the first time and actually noticed and commented on how much she liked the feel...I gotta get her one too now.

Or mebbe I'll pick up an Eclipse to try and let her have mine, anyone know how the Eclipse feels?
