Crooks and Liars has the story/viddies of Senator Feingold on Stephanopolis' Sunday morning show announcing he will be introducing a measure in Congress to censure the president (http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/03/12.html#a7493):
What I'm interested in is my colleagues acknowledging that we as a Congress have to stand up to a president who acts as if the Bill of Rights and the Constitution were repealed on September 11. We didn't enact martial law on September 11. We still have a constitutional form of government, and if the Congress of the United States does not stand up for that authority at this point, it will be an historic failure of our system of government.
(Thanks to RawStory for the transcript (http://rawstory.com/news/2006/Full_transcript_Feingold_announces_he_will_0312.ht ml)!)
Senator Frist already has a rebuttal up at C&L too (http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/03/12.html#a7494) I just saw:
George, what was interesting in listening to my good friend-Russ, is that he mentioned protecting the American people only one time, and although you went to politics a little bit later, I think it's a crazy political move and I think it in part is a political move because here we are, the Republican Party, the leadership in the Congress, supporting the President of the US as Commander in Chief, who is out there fighting al Qaeda and the Taliban and Osama bin Laden and the people who have sworn, have sworn to destroy Western civilization and all the families listening to us. And they're out now attacking, at least today, through this proposed censure vote, out attacking our Commander in Chief. Doesn’t make sense.
Wow, colour me shocked he doesn't seem to like the idea...

That rebuttal rests 100% on the assumption that going out there and blowing up their homes is in any way going to make our homes less of a target for terrorism.
Agh. You want to know the reason why he doesn't mention "protecting the american people" in there? Because 1., he's not a propaganda machine, and 2., there's more at stake than some people's lives. That's just ridiculous.

Yup, I'm just hoping this censure takes hold and gets some attention...I think it actually will since so many republicans are pissed off at Bush right now and want to distance themselves from him. They know a censure really doesn't do anything, so they might just go for it.
Oh, and Feingold's speech will be at 4pm today (http://rawstory.com/news/2006/Democratic_senator_Feingold_plans__speech_0313.htm l).

Thank the gods, Feingold ain't giving up or backing down...he's holding a press conference this morning about it (http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Second_senator_sponsors_censure_resolution_0315.ht ml) and he's gained the support of two more senators. :)

Think this new poll showing the country favors censure (http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Poll_Americans_slightly_favor_plan_to_0316.html) might help?
Hell, according to the poll 42% support impeachment.

About time, only we have to hope that the people who placed this President in the WH do not simply replace him with another puppit cardboard cutout.
Impeachment should be easy as the crimes of BUSH are WAY WAY worse then lying (i.e. Clinton), because he has done that and just about everything else illigal a President can do. So much for justice, a President can lie about one little thing and get swarmed by the media (Clinton), but another can start 2 illigal wars costing over $2 TRILLION (much more damage then the terrists could ever dream of causing), violate almost every law and process of the Bill of Rights, Constitution ect... throw the Military to the dogs, destroy about 100,000 Iraqie people, lay waste to a sovernign nation, destroy the local economy (that is, that of the USA), repress every plea by the American people to stop this maddness, institute illigal spying and special forces operations agianst AMERICANS on AMERICAN soil, disreguard the proper system of being elected by fixing vote records, anger and incite the rest of the world to hate America more then ever (and for good reason), allow our national security to falter while claiming to do the opposite, institute draconion police state laws on the citizen ship, be involved in numerous scandels and coverups, and still get away with it ALL, right under the noses of the American people and Congress. It is about time someone began the drum beat of political war on the President.

I fully agree and it just embarresses/disgusts me to no small end to see the way they are NOT doing just that!
Damn it, politicians from both sides of the isle should be lining up in support of Feingold's censure; not labelling him "a traitor" for "generating dissent"!
I don't get how my country has fallen so far, I just don't. :(

Anyone watch Boston Legal... Alan Shore had a great speech on the show this week in regards to being embarrassed by this country and its rulers. I love his speeches! 8)
