View Full Version : F1 racing, anyone?

Is there anyone besides Bjorn and myself interested in F1 racing? The 2006 season kicked off today and I'm sure that Bjorn was thrilled his driver was back on the podium (Michael Schumacher). It was a very good race, with lots of passing and drama. Kimi Raikkonen stormed back from dead last to finish 3rd and 2nd generation driver Nico Rosberg finished in the points in his first F1 race.
Anyone else care? 8)

Of course I care :). I couldn't see the qualifying but heard it was cool. Apparently they changed it again so that first all get to drive a set of laps, then only the 16(?) best get to drive once again trying to set new best laptimes and then the 10 best.
I didn't see the whole race (we had family over for Madeleines birthday) but the stuff I saw was cool. It was a tight race with lots of action, especially between Schumacher and Alonso in the front.
I'm impressed as usual by Raikkonen but why can't they/he keep his car working so he doesn't have to start from last all the time. I've lost track of the nubmers of time it happened last season.
I'm starting to regret not going to Nürburgring this year. It was soo cool watching the race from the side.
It looks like Ferrari might have a better car this year. If Massa hand't first spun and they then had had problems in the pit (something happened with airpressure so they couldn't get his tire off, took 50s for the whole stop) I think he might have been able to finish high up.

Raikkonen's failure to qualify was more than a mechanical glitch, the entire rear suspension collapsed! Apparently a manufacturing defect in the carbon fiber occurred, and the whole thing broke apart under load. Very scary, as he almost rolled it. It is heartening that all of the front runners went the distance, so we should see lots of good racing this year! 8)
For you non-F1 fans, you should check it out. Too many races in the past few years were snoozers (little passing, Schumacher runaways), but it appears from last year and the first race of '06 that it's worth watching again.

I like F1. Today i watched the qualification, its so bad that Schumacher has to start from 14th place, not 4th

Bah! The race today sucked. Too many engine failures, plus Raikkonen went out on the first lap. Oh well, next stop Melbourne!
