Details are still coming in, but the Wall Street Journal has just reported that Microsoft will delay the release of Windows Vista from the second half of 2006 until January of 2007. This marks the second delay for Microsoft's next generation operating system."

Damn! They're always delaying it... :(

At least I hope that these delays won't be for nothing and hopefully (altough I'm skeptic) the final release version will be bug-free.

It seems that everyone wants to take a shot at MS over the delay of Vista.

"What's Really Behind the Windows Vista Delay?

To say that Microsoft's bombshell decision to delay the launch of Windows Vista until 2007 was due to quality concerns is an oversimplification.

Microsoft actually is pushing the Vista launch back to January 2007 to appease the marketing gurus as much as the quality grunts.

Jim Allchin, co-president of Microsoft's Platforms & Services Division, announced on March 21 during a conference call that Microsoft is now planning to roll out Windows Vista in two stages. "

Might as well throw in one more for good measure.................

"Microsoft Delays Vista Until January

Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday said it would delay general availability of Vista, the next major upgrade to the Windows operating system, until January 2007, a move that's expected to have some impact on consumer PC sales.
Businesses are expected to get access to the next-generation OS in November, with broader availability to consumers set for January 2007.

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., plans to go into "broad consumer beta" to about 2 million users in the second quarter of 2006, the company said in a statement. More than a half million customers have received the latest community technology preview for Vista. "

No topic would be complete without the Inquirers take on the matter.............

"Microsoft delays Vista again

THE ON again off again release date of Microsoft’s Vista is off again.
The outfit, which has been promising a release of a replacement to the old and now slightly smelly Windows XP for five years, is claiming that the beast is still not ready."
