54.759s for 1M

Ow I got spanked! (And this time I did not enjoy it!)

I killed all non essential programs running in the task manager and now look!

54.799 It's higher. lmao. O well.

Like I said 1-1.5 years I will be getting a system that rocks!

Patients I must have.
I will however get a new Video Card.

I also got 35Sec (but sorry, without 1.4mod version since I haven't downloaded it yet...).

I managed to overclock my X2 3800+ to 2.5GHz (250x10) and here's what I got on SuperPI:

Here's CPU-Z (one strange thing is that Vcore is being reported as 1.4V altough I've set it to 1.6V (and believe me, IT IS 1.6V  ):

And here are my Temps (on Idle) being read by SpeedFan:

Try downloading CPUx 1.33............. Might help.

Thanks, Bio. I'll try downloading it and let you know if it worked...

EDIT: Just installed 1.33 and still it shows 1.4V on the Vcore (strange :? ). And yeah, I did try changing the "Vcore=" in the "*.ini" file to either 0/1/2/3.

Try out Central Brain Identifier and see if it reads teh right setting. Also try SiSanda to see if it displays the right voltage. Does th bios read 1.6V?

I'll try them out, as the BIOS recognizes the Vcore as 1.6V. :?

I'll also try later this week to run the CPU at 280x9, with lower multiplier, to see if I can reach pretty the same overclock of 2.5GHz with less voltage to the Vcore, like sbrehm72255 suggested. :?

I'll update you when I try it, but it'll take few days as I'm currently pretty busy at work and my wife needs the PC, so I can't tweak it in the next few days.

Thanks, werty! :)

About time to get the wife a PC of her own I think, then you can have free access to yours to play anytime you like................

Hehehe  I guess you're right. I'm currently working on it.

It's annoying that everytime I want to work on MY PC, my wife takes control......

That's one of the first things I did when I got married this time (3 rd). I just didn't like here messing with my system, she has this problem of crashing every system she comes in contact with. After I built her her own system (AMD XP 2600) she's gotten better, now all she has to learn is to stay away from nasty web sites that like to hack your system.

Hehehe  Married 3rd time, I'm impressed.

OH...BTW...I've just managed to make my system stable at 2.4GHz (240x10) with Vcore of 1.475V (this was the minimum voltage required in order to make it stable :? ).
It seemed that the Vchipset didn't have an effect, so I backed it down to 1.5V.

So I'm currently "Dual-Priming" (it's been half an hour already and still going... ) with Vcore 1.475V and Vchip 1.5V and the MAXIMUM TEMPS so far, seem to be pretty good: 45C!!! :D

Too bad I cannot manage to run my 2GB OCZ XTC RAM at 240MHz :( (1:1 ratio), even if I up the Vram Voltage to 2.85V or above (as it is currently set to 2.75V). That's why it is now set to CPU/12 divider, which makes it run at its default speed of 200MHz (DDR400).

Anyway, if it'll keep being stable at that speed (2.4GHz), I guess I'll keep these overclock settings...just to be on the safe side, ya know.

What do you think, Bio? :?

zachig
04-09-2006, 05:31 PM
Thanks :D . I'm still "priming" and meanwhile everything seem stable and still temps not going above 44-45C!!! :D

Maybe later on this week I'll try to tweak a little bit with the memories, as I'm currently running them at 2.5-3-3-8.
Maybe if I'll loosen them to 3-4-4-8 I'll be able to run them at 1:1 240MHz, but then I'm not sure if it really worth it, since 3-4-4-8 timings really suck :( . What do you think? Is it really worth it?

It still seems strange to me that whenever I try to up the RAM voltage to anything above 2.75V I'm getting into instability issues... :?

I was damn sure that my OCZ XTC RAM uses BH-5 chips, which are known to "like" high Voltage...

Anyway, I'm very satisifed with my overclocking results so far and I'll probably keep my CPU at 2.4GHz, 24/7, with the Vcore at 1.475V! :D

THX,
zachig.

Oops, I missed this thread... probably was the first bench I did of my C2D. ;)

I can only find this old pic, had the chip almost right on 15 seconds with some further tweaking after I took this one. Once the system is back together I'll see what the new overclocking BIOS and new RAM can do. The CAS timing is a bug, was still using a early BIOS in this shot too.

I got 43.953 from an X2 3800 running nothing and 1GB of Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 (My father's computer) with superpi mod 1.4

Couldn't we use mod1.5 instead of mod1.4?

Yah it's on a 754 Sempy, you can see my specs in my sig.

It also helps if you set superpi to run in realtime.

I'm using 1.5 btw.

Those memory controlers on the Intel chipsets really seem to hold you back a bit...............:ahhhhh:. I.m running 200 MHz slower on my CPu but can still beat your SuperPi time by 1.5 seconds. This is mainly due to the unlinked memory controler on Nvidia chipsets..........:icon_tiphat: That and my Corsair ram can run super tight timings at DDR2-500 speeds.

Still lagging a bit for that high of a clock, tighten up those memory timings a bit, that'' help out some.

my mem wont :( i am using Gskill with Promos chips on a gigabyte965 board ( which clocks well but has no real Umph behind it ) i tried my crucial 800 ( that i ran it @ 1000 with 4,4,4,13 timings ) and no real difference ... so i am thinking its mem and board , i will be changing 1 then the other or both ... This is the same box running Fedora 7 with the 2.6.22 kernel and Super Pi Mod 1.5 is running through wine v0.9.43.

Not much different from my Vista score. But then again it is running through a compatibility layer...
