Over the past few months intel has changed all of its processor logos, in my opinion they look horrid and are ugly as can be, who thinks that they look nicer than the older, more differentiated logos?

The looks don't bother me... Personally I'm glad Intel finally did something about their alphabet soup problem. The average Joe will at least have a slightly better clue what he is really buying, than just having a "P4" label stuck on it to show it's an Intel machine.

The old logo design was getting long in the tooth anyway... ;)

what do you mean? the only difference was in the VIIV technology and D technology, THERE there was true confusion, but intel could have at least made the prettier :) i like stickers and honestly whats on a persons case or a vendors case affects my decision, i know thats really stupid but its just something i like

Well, what I mean is this. Intel would use the same Pentium 4 inside logo, but you wouldn't have a clue what kind of Pentium 4 it was unless you had the specs sheet infront of you.

Intel used to have Northwood AND Presscotts on the market. Both Northwood and Presscott core Pentium 4s came with 533 FSB or 800FSB parts, and the northwood had an additional 400FSB core floating around at the same time.

Factor in Hyperthreading, most Northwood cores did not offer it, and only some Presscotts would have it. Usually you could only tell by reading the price tag, as most sellers did put it on there as a selling point.

Also after the Northwoods were being phased out, Intel switched to the LGA 775 socket. BUT, if you bought a prescott, how would you know which socket it was? Or even which series/cache size, 500 or 600?

Intel made only a very subtle change to the Pentium 4 logo's colors when they changed from Northwood to Prescott cores, and the average person never even noticed. They later started adding HT, Mobile, and other descriptives to the sticker, and only now do they attempt to list most of the relavent specs, such as "Core Single" or "Core Duo".

Should I even mention the first Pentium 4, the infamous socket 423 that was a few steps backwards in performance, featuring the Willamette core? I still see stickers and "Pentium 4" branding on machines locally that look to have incredible prices... but then I learn it's a Willamette 423socket Pentium 4 inside, not a Northwood...

Guess that was a little overkill, but it does a good job illustrating Intel's poor branding strategies...

You should have added an option for AMD fanboys like "Don't Care, AMD for Life" hehe jk. I never really noticed they changed their logo.

I read that they have changed the Intel logo, but I've never bother to go out and look at the new one..........;)

ARGH!! Fine, I'll post them! :p And I'm not an Intel fan as much as a fan of more Intelligent labeling... This isn't all of them either, they're missing a platform brand in the very least.

By the way the logos names are the exact same except for intel VIIV which if you bought before the new logos couldnt be identified, otherwise the rest of the logos are uglier versions of the old ones :), AND when northwood AND prescott were out you still couldnt tell the difference if they were using the current logos

To be honest...NONE!!! :D I guess I just "hate" Intel...

But, if I have to choose, I'd go with the new Intel Logo. That "Leap Ahead" has a futurisitic/technological sound...

Interesting because i prefer amds themselves performance wise and now sticker wise, regular people who dont know much about pcs would go for AMD for their stickers or they would go for an intel simply because "intels are better" but ofcourse thats not the case at all until conroe is released, maybe not even then
