"Google is upset with the default search box in Internet Explorer 7

Search giant Google is upset with Microsoft for using MSN Search as the default search engine for Internet Explorer 7's integrated search bar reports The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/01/technology/01google.html?ei=5065&en=76d8879354261299&ex=1147147200&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print). Google is citing that similar behaviors in the 90’s of embedding Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player in to the Windows operating system landed Microsoft in hot water with the DOJ in anti-trust litigation of which subsequently Microsoft was found guilty. Hmm, methinks Google is a bit stupid. Google so amazingly omits the fact that Firefox uses Google as its de facto search engine. And why wouldn't MS use its own search engine as default? Seems to be smart business tactics to me.

I think microsoft is getting concerned that google may become the super server for many things like word processing, spreadsheets etc which will cut into the cash cows of microsoft.

I use open office at home and it works great.

I gave Open Office a try, as I seem to have so much other open-source stuff installed...

Overall I thought it was pretty good, however I got tired of MS Excel and the StarOffice Spreadsheet program having incompatible filetypes. Forcing any kind of conversion over to either program would do a pretty good job mauling any formatting that'd been done.
