No picture from WinFast A180 Card!

I’m a newbie to this forum so excuse any gibberish!
Have a PC with WinFast A180 Series and WinFast PVR.
This had been working brilliantly until a couple of months ago – now no picture on WinFast PVR – (turns the PC off when try to open the program).
Think the prob may have started after installing a update to windows Media Player but not sure.
Would appreciate any suggestions.

have you try to reinstall the software/program and the driver for the card?

Yes have – or think have – downloaded software updates from the Driver Detective site. How can I check that the driver is alright?! Yes know should know but liken it my car – a good few years ago ya could open the bonnet and probably fix something – now don’t even know (or care) how to open the bonnet!

Try to download & install them...just follow their instructions...and delete old ones before installing new ones...then...see if it works (hopefully it will...will keep my fingers crossed)...and let us know, whether its ok or if we need to assist you further...Good Luck! :cool: ;)

Hey thanks heaps for that – got WinFast DVR going. Have another application that have had a problem getting a picture into (not at the same time) – ZoneTrigger.
Has 2 settings – “use DirectX when possible” – the nVidia WDM Video Capture appears as an option – but no picture.
The 2nd setting is “ force use of video for windows” – the nVidia WDM Video Capture is no longer an option!
Any suggestions? Have been back to Zone Trigger and they were unable to help except to say to reinstall Windows.

Glad to hear that Winfast PVR is working...;)

And about ZoneTrigger...huhhh...never used it actually...but as far as I just checked on the web...it's some kind of webcam&video capturing) application...is that it?

Anyway...we may try few things...so first...do you remember if the 2nd setting had that WMD Video Capture option before? Try opening Device Manager and then Sound,Video and Game Controllers...there you should see 3 or 4 Winfast drivers listed (some people say there need to be 4 drivers listed, but I only have 3 and it works without problems). In my case they are Winfast TV2000 XP Expert WDM Crossbar, WDM TVTuner and WDM Video Capture. If at least those 3 arent there, then you probably did something wrong while installing drivers...so reinstall them...also check (in Device Manager too) if some lines have that X at the start (meaning that some driver/device has problems. If all that seems ok...and because your Winfast PVR works now...I believe the only thing that could cause this would be that ZoneTrigger itself...so try reinstalling it...;) And leave the "Windows reinstall" option as a last resort...I wont do that...not yet...cause I am almost 100% sure that this problem is caused by some other device/driver/application...and not Windows itself...:cool: ;)

I hope that you'll find a solution asap and enjoy with your A180 for a long time...ohh..and let me know if anything mentioned above worked...or we need to do some deeper serious examination into this...:mrgreen: :twisted: :-D :p ;)

Thanks - all those drivers look as though they are there - did try and attach a screen dump - not sure if it has worked or not. Also tried another DVR application and no picture in that either so the problem looks as though it is in my system - somewhere!

Hmmm...dont know...if you tried all that...then maybe problem could really be somewhere in the system...but (just wonder)...did that ZoneTrigger worked before you started experiencing all those problems? Also...why would you need some 3rd party application to record movies/music,etc...? Winfast PVR works just great (at least for me)...so I never change anything if it works...cause adding more "similar" software could actually make things even worse...because all those drivers could mix up and everything might stop working (even those applications that worked fine beofre)...thats why I never change it if something works ok....but then again....thats me...and others have other needs/desires,etc...;)

Dont know what to suggest you now...need to think of it...and meanwhile...I hope someone else will come up with some idea about what you can still try atm...Good luck...talk to you soon....:cool:

Johnie – hi there – just that wanted a motion detection/and or web cam software.
Have a front door camera - http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~jim.ryan/weather/ and was trying to get a DVR security type application!
Meanwhile WinFast PVR is working fine.

Btw...nice interesting site you have! Did you make it yourself or may I get it (its code) too somewhere? (just wonder) Or maybe you're running your own homemade weather station? ;)

Otherwise...just let me know about something...so you wanted to record your webcam video or what? If so...then why dont you try with software that came with a webcam? Although any other similar software should work ok too...I just dont know about recording and live transmitting (if needed) but I believe some do that too with ease...;)

But the point is that this has nothing to do with your A180 (that is if only you have the latest drivers and everything) or DVR...cause you wont be able to capture webcam video there I believe...but on the other side...its really strange that webcam application(s) which you said you tried also dont show picture there.....hmmmmmmm...also tell me if otherwise webcam works (btw is this the same as on your website?) or if you experience some other problems with it too?

Just let me know about all that and what exactly do you want to do...and I will try to check for appropriate software or anything else needed to help you out asap, ok? ;)
