View Full Version : Is my 6800gt dead?

Ok well i went to turn on my comp and i had no picture when it booted, so i checked and everything was connected properly but my Xfx 6800gt fan wasnt spinning.. so now i dont know what to do becuase it was working fine the day before, and for the last 7 months, but now for some reason its not working.. is it possible for it to just die overnight?
my psu is a thermaltake 430w psu with 18amps on the 12v rail....... its been running perfectly stable along with a 3700+ sandy @ stock speeds, 2 hd's, and a couple fans since september.......
right now i have no other computer with a pci-e slot and i dont have a spare gfx card soo....
also if it helps i get one long beep and two short ones... like beeeeeeeeeep beep beep

It would help if you gave the make and model of your MoBo along with the Bios type. But a quick search comes up with this for Award Bios:
1 long, 2 short, Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information

It would help if you gave the make and model of your MoBo along with the Bios type. But a quick search comes up with this for Award Bios:

Not good...
Give this a try, if you have not already done so. Disconnect the power plug from the wall, then remove the graphics card completely, and then reinstall it into the machine and reconnect the additional power plug to the graphics card, and lastly plug the system itself back in. All in that order. If that doesn't work then you could try testing the card out in another machine, or another card in your machine...
Also, have you done any overlocking or modifications such as volt modding to the card? Did you regularly ensure that it was clean and dust free inside the cooler?

Try reseating it like Kougar suggested and also reseat your memory too just to be sure.

also, try to reset the motherboard either by teh jumper or the take off the battery and then reboot to see if it boots up.
