7900 GT ViVo

Hello I bought a 7900 GT ViVo enabled card, 470M or something the black pcb one. I have tried everything to try to capture video on this thing from my VCR, it just will not work. I dled the nvidia vivo capture drivers but VirtualDub or any other video capture software will not work, they cannot detect the card as a video capture device. I have the VCR on and playing while doing this. I have the S-Video cord hooked up to the S-Video IN connector on the cord that goes into the input / ouput thing. Why wont this work? Any help would be appreciated. Wont work with my DVD player either.

Only advice I can offer is to make sure you are using the "video in" cable that is connected to the S-Video slot on your video card. I am not really a A/V guy.

Hm, well first I'll point out that the S-Video cable must be connected to the S-Video OUTput port of whatever device you want to be the source of your image.

I am not familiar with VIVO myself, so once ya hook it up correctly let us know if that fixed anything... I'll poke around a little and see what I find about VIVO's capture drivers ;)

Yep it is simple to hook up but getting a feed to work is the tricky part.

Plug a S-Video/RCA cable into the video card's Video/Adapter In; other end of the cable goes into the other devices S-Video/RCA Video Out.

Here are the steps I found form HIS's website. I am not sure if this is universal for all VIVO cards.

after you cjecked that cables are connected correct look above posts
my suggest is to dl http://virtualvcr.sourceforge.net/ - virtual vcr

in there you can change the input devices & system very easy.

I am sorry to tell you this but the 7900GT's do not support video capture. This wa a feature added to the 7900GTX and the 7600GT. I cannot tell you why this card does not have this capability but, that is the way it was architectured.

my 7900 gt is capturing s-video fine with virtual vcr and wdm drivers, some support that guy is ^ note: if using virtual vcr select an option for 'smart tee' in settings > view.

i had a small problem with the 7800GT capture drivers i had to install them twice before it worked ok.
maybe you should try it

Some of the 7900GT cards have capturing video capabilities and some do not. Please contact the xfxsupport team at www.xfxforce.com => support => help desk and they can let you know if you should have the ViVo capabilities.
