The Nintendo Wii will have built-in web browsing capabilities, and unsurprisingly, they'll be built atop a custom browser by Opera Software, according to comments from Nintendo and Opera. The browser, which is still in development, will offer traditional web surfing capabilities in addition to some kind of tie-in with gaming. For Nintendo's part, the company is dedicated to bringing a fully functioning, fast and effective browser to the console, and I applaud them. In recent years it seem as though bringing browsers to devices other than computers has been mostly a gimmick.
