Workstation cards are usually graphics cards solely optimized for very high 3D graphics load rendering. Such as if you were designing a video game and were creating that model of a WW2 tank... You would need to design the model inside and out, then create textures and mapping and other details for it. Extremely high detail and "fancy looks" take some GPU power to render, or create. As graphics cards get more powerful, you need equally powerful workstation cards to design more complicated and fancier tanks "for that next game".

AutoCad is one heavy design application program that needs both GPU and CPU processing power, and is used from creating models to desiging blueprints or creating a true 3D view of a blueprint design, such as for your house. ;) I'm sure they're other better examples or explanations than mine though...

One misconcept by people who don't know alot about PCs is people think if it costs alot it must be fast for gaming, well in the cast of workstation cards they are wrong.

...exactly....because such cards have a logo which reads..."The way it's meant to be DESIGNED"...and not "PLAYED" like @ some other cards...we all know which ones...  :p ;)

I think it is too cruel and funny telling someone who asks if something liek this is teh fastest card you can get for gaming:

It would fit...but your pockets would be dry for the next 6 months for sure...hahahahahhahaha....and not to mention days and weeks of headaches...HAHAHHAHAHA...:p

But still...I would like to see some comparation between i.e. that card above (with 640MB of ram) and some 7900GTX or X1900XTX...cause although its not exactly "made for gaming".....I believe it would still kick some a55e5...but for $1690....thanks but no thanks...  :p

If nothing else...I can imagine having such card (and hopefully some game to support its max resolution too) and some 50" LCD monitor or TV...and playing games at 3840 x 2400@50Hz (although such display would surely cost $5000+...and maybe it wouldnt be best to play @ max resolution (cause 50Hz means trouble for our eyes)...but still....big resolution...big screen....success guaranteed!  :D :p ;)

Ohhh....I am dreaming again...wake up Johnie...:p :-D
