After spending a couple of days monitoring the CPU and motherboard temperatures in various scenarios, and comparing those readings with the ones I normally see and those derived from my Spire VertiCool II review that was done in the open on a bench. I was quite surprised to see a small 2 degree increase on the CPU, and the same readings on the motherboard temps under a light load. The hard drive temperatures are better than the readings I recorded in other reviews when passively cooled, but could be improved with active cooling in place. The all aluminum construction not only keeps the weight down, but it does serve a vital role in keeping things cool as well. The fine finishes on the front of the case give it a high-end home theatre look and feel to it, and as quoted from a good friend with a fair amount of top end home audio "that’s a good looking case, and would look right at home in my black piano finished audio cabinet". The only complaints I have about the case is the inability to turn all of the LED's and LCD display lighting off, and poorly written users manual. The lack of Windows MCE compliance and a remote control for the volume control make this case fall a bit short as a complete HTPC, considering this is Kingwin's first offering and its price point it is still an excellent desktop case. Despite these minor shortcomings I was highly impressed with the Kingwin Supernova HTPC Case and award MTB's Seal of Approval with a final rating of 9.5 out of 10. If you have any questions regarding this review be sure to visit the Kingwin website for more information or discuss them in our forums.
