I remember playing Gun a little while back – the title was slow to get into, but incredible once you actually got into it. That’s how things turned out here – though I was adamant about this review at first, thanks to the “try and drive a bus with a fork” logic of the controls in Angel of Darkness, I soon fell in love with Legend. With Lara being so easy to control, and puzzles requiring just the right amount of logic, I was vastly enjoying the game and becoming quite good at it. Then it ended. It’s a real shame when a game ends so simply and suddenly after 8 hours – and after playing a behemoth such as Oblivion, whose occasional sittings lasted longer than this whole game, you can’t help but feel ripped off. With no alternative storyline, the relationship that you’ll have with this game after the requisite 8 hours is near to nil, and as such, it’s immensely fun to play, amazing to look at, and gently taxing on the mind, but it’s too damn short to justify the price tag it commands. You’re better off to rent it, enjoy it, and beat it in the three days that you’ll have it. While we wish there was a way to make it last longer, there just isn’t, and as such, we can say that you’ve got to play this game – but it’s just not worth buying it to do so.
